Personal injury / illness insurance recommendations

Looking to add this and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. Ideally wanna be able to claim back at least 1.5K£ per month if anything bad happens, also would need to be covered for some dangerous sports I do (surfing). Thanks in advance guys 👌

I just put money away in a savings account.

Needs a few days notice to touch the money but been building it up for a few years.

If anything happens I'm covered for a few months.

This is a very good idear an insurance premium might never be claimed but by doing what you are over a number of years you will have a nice little nest egg that if it’s not needed for an injury will eventually end up with many thousands of pounds and you will still have the money unlike a policy payment

I couldnt get an insurance for above,as previous health issues.

I now put a couple of hundred a month in premium bonds. At least a chance of winning a few quid, n never know could win the million.

Sure I understand but say for example I can’t work for 2 years that’s 36K I would need to support my family which is something I haven’t available to me right now put aside. Yeah of course after another 5yrs I maybe in a position to do this, but as I try and grow my business I wanna reinvest a lot of my income for new kit so this insurance seems like the best option.

Or invest money in low risk investments so you get a return on it.

I just don't like the idea of basically paying an insurance policy you may never use.. the same reason I bought my first house at 20 rather than pay someone elses mortgage.

Lol I don’t think you are likely to be off work for 2 years  I was off for 12 months when I ripped the tendons off my knee but a normal leg break etc is only 8 weeks or so. If you are off work for 2 years I doubt you would work again

I have a policy that pays out if I am injured or ill and can't work.Mine is more for if a log term problem was to occur that could result in no work for a long period.

Mine doesn't pay out a huge monthly amount but the premiums are fairly low.

If I never cash it in then it's a bonus.

I just automatically direct debit money to a high interest account as savings. I'm already broken so can't get any worse.

Get a funeral plan is the best advice as when you pop your clogs your family will have to dig deep in a time of crisis

I know a guy how paid into a personal injury policy for over a decade, and got a pitence when he actually had to claim. He was disgusted with it given the amount he paid in over the years.

Personally I have an insurance policy through my bank which covers the mortgage if I can't work long term through illness, then savings after that.

If you were working in any job, it would be basic sick pay which isn't much and can only be claimed for 6 months I believe, then it would be claiming the government if I was ill, long term.

With savings alone I can treat myself allot better than I would be treated in a job financially if I was ill and couldn't work.

Look closely at what you would actually get if you claimed with any policy, but honestly I would stick the money in a savings account.

I have to carry my own trem card in the van in case of accident @Pjj as I'm a hazard.

You'll know what I mean being fire service.

We have to be able to quickly identify and know how to deal with anything that’s transported on the roads to a basic level then get specialist advice once we know what we are dealing with fortunately hazmat incidents are not that common 😂😂

Especially things getting into the water system etc.. even milk is bad to just wash away down the drainage system.
