Insurance Question

I use Swinton as a broker and whoever underwrites it! Cant remember who the actual company is insuring me now /emoticons/sad.png ill have to check but yeah public liability is pretty much a given in case you damage anything or anyone but as smurf says you will have to check exactly what it covers you and read carefully. Might want to consider personal accident cover to incase you are unable to work, i never went for it but some people with families and that would like to know they are covered perhaps?

I personally wasted hours on the net and phone calls trying to get the cover for all the cleaning services I offer. Most I had to contact directly by phone then ask as it's not just window cleaning public liability I wanted. Most said they would have to call me back if they would cover it or not.

That process drove me bonkers I must say until I found out that gleaming insurance as a standard policy covered the risks & services I wanted covered.

About The Cover

The policies we offer are underwritten by Hiscox Insurance Company Ltd and have been specifically designed for businesses in the cleaning industry. Why? Have you had reason to claim on public liability insurance? Please explain. I use them for 2 years with no problems. I pick up lots of commercial work and the insurance is included in my RAMS and all the companies seem to be happy with the insurance side of things as I am covered for everything related to window cleaning water fed pole method.

How do we rate insurance companies?

I rate them by easy of getting covered for exactly what I require, gleaming were very expensive and offered less cover for nearly double the premium, and yes I have tried them 2 years for quotes and still expensive every time.

Aviva were also very expensive on the public liability insurance too.

What do you get for the extra financial cost of the insurance?

I was gonna ask the same. A bit of detail as to why you wouldn't recommend them would help.I'm with Simply Business after an offer popped up via Vistaprint which offered me public liabilty for £69 - £25 off(total £44) which suited me perfectly as I've only just started back up in the business in Feb of this year.

Mart.

Not really but if you land a big contract and they want 5 million cover then can always increase the cover from 1 - 5. Simples... :Image9:

Simply business sell basic window cleaning public liability cover hence why the lower cost. You get what you pay for....Simples

So if you quote and get an exterior deep cleaning job for instance which includes cleaning a conservatory roof, clearing & cleaning gutters, washing windows, cleaning a drive or patio or even cleaning exterior of park homes (caravan to you) also spc you would be unwise to take on the job as you will not be insured to do so. Another thing that will not be covered is using any kind of chem like ubik as simply business do not cover for the use of chems/cleaning products or property being worked upon.

So what you are saying hotwash is hogwash :Image13:

Simply Business were one of the few who did public liability and employee liability insursance at a reasonable cost i found.

I pay £16 a month with gleaming and that covers me for absolutely everything and what smurf said .

I pay 94 a year and covered for exactly what you said Smurf, don't buy insurance online always ring them then you get exactly what you need and want. I am covered for everything related to window cleaning water fed pole system. Any job you could possibly think of I am covered 100%.

Like the advert used to say " its good to talk".

Communicating effectively gets you what you need.

Do you quote online for window cleaning. Lol. Of course you don't as you never know what you are dealing with.

It's my point.

If you were not covered by your own policy before hand Smurf then you only have your self to blame not the insurance company.
