Not equipment but clothing, steel toecap boots a size too big and wear 2 pairs of tog rating 5 socks = toasty toes.

Only started wfp recently and with my first winter looming near il be paying close attention to this thread! Hoping i can drain my tank down each night and maybe wrap an old douvet round my pump/pipes to keep them safe. Will have to bilge pump my water into the van each morning instead of night before to stop it freezing so looking forward to lots of dark windy cold mornings sat in my van waiting for it to fill up!

its already hard enough to find boots in a size 13 dodger, dont think i could use your tip as id need to wear size 14 boots!

Cloths...

I got myself a thermal t shirt this year one that is arms length rather then like a thermal t shirt or vest...

Long johns

Seal Skin gloves.

I have steel toe capped shoes which can be worn in extreme cold and heat! So these keep feet warm and keep cool etc(if that makes sense)

Body Warmer...

Woolly hat especially if you have short hair like myself.

Should be better this year, well, no more carrying cold freezing ladders and equipment(like squeegees)

And no more walking my rounds, as now wfp use my van to go from one street to another so put the heater on lol.

We will see how it goes as see how the water is aswell, so swings and round abouts(A lot of people on my converted rounds asking me how I will cope with using water(especially when your up close to a bulding doing upstairs and you get wet from drips etc lol)

Get an oil filled radiator for the back of your van not a fan heater.

The condensation that forms on your roof wont damage an oil radiator were as if it drips in a fan heater.....

Mind ya, with have a freezing cold winter that we had last year/this year, and a really hot summer, I reckon we will have a mild winter this year!

No need for IPA or any chemical intervention in this country really. Add that on to the fact you'd need a 1:9 ratio IPA:Water to even make a slight difference -4°c freezing point, which makes it completely cost ineffective.

The best thing you can do is drain all your pipes of an evening, lag anything metallic and make sure your water is as pure as you can get it, the actual freezing point of DI water is -42°c.

Good point. See, this is what forums are about, bouncing ideas.

Interesting!

im guna get wall insalation the silver block square stuff round the tank an lagging round pipes an a good oil filled rad 4 over nte,as 4 trad the good old car screen wash neet bottle on a belt trick never let me bown i also carry deicer spry just in case

I'll bring the backpacks in but the rest stays in the van, I might insulate the van this year though behind the ply lining.

If I know its gunna be real cold the night before work I put car on the drive and my van in the garage....

But I bought a 7:99 2kw fan blower from argos and that was great for defrizzing the hose and other stuff in back of my van. Just put it in the van and go make a coffee. 15 mins later the inside of the van all warm and water clowing though hose again.....

I'll be wrapping the pipes underneath the van in some form of insulation. The inside will be hard to insulate without looking an awful mess.

I'll most likely be watching how everyone else does but I can't afford to drain the tank at night or bring anything indoors. I may buy some rock salt now before the weather turns and buy in bulk try save some money.

As regards clothes I always wear a lot. But never gloves. Hate gloves.

That Oil Filled Radiator seems a sensible idea- would it be sufficient to warm my Combo thru though, and would it need to be on overnight to do so?

Insulation doesn't have to be messy, I'm thinking of sticking this in mine this year.
