HI.can you advise me what is the best ladder(lenght) to do gutters?2 section or 3?and the same for traditionall window cleaning?

Most common window cleaning standard ladder used are 2 section 11 rungs per section but everyone has their own preference which ladder they use.

Gutter clearing I prefer to use a 3 section 12 rung per section ladder fitted with an ankalad stabaliser and use a mirolite standoff that can rest on roof tiles. That size ladder will do all that I want it for deep cleaning exterior of 2 storey homes but would be much too heavy to use on a trad round.

Like HSE say use the most suitable type/length ladder for the job.

thanks Smurf. I want to buy ankalad stabiliser as well as microlite standoff, what do you think of that one http://www.midlandladders.com/products/Ladderbrace_Stabilisers-276-25.html and also should I choose trade ladder(150kg) http://www.midlandladders.com/products/Lyte_Double_3_5m_Trade_Ladder_BSEN131-528-152.html or industrial class 1 like titan(175) http://www.midlandladders.com/products/Double_3_5m_Heavy_Duty_Industrial_Alloy_Ladder_Class_1-29-26.html

or better to buy A double section window cleaning ladder http://www.midlandladders.com/products/11ft6_3_5m_Double_Extension_Window_Cleaner_s_Ladder-154-49.html

Ladder choice is really up to you but just remember if using a microlite standoff for gutter clearing the ladder has got to be long enough when extended you can set the ladder properly so the microlite can rest on roof tiles most of the time.

had her out today first time

split my ladder and used bottom half for my job today

found it a good help instead of leaning against gutters of conny which were in bad condition used as free standing ladder and it was solid

it was easy to fix to my ladder and no probs on my roof bars

i suspect if you had the ank beside the mid the ank would have better quality parts as it is twice the price

however mid quality seems good

still early days but my initial reaction is £59 well spent

ya got to have flat solid ground for ya bars to rest on or thick board to stabilise ground or ya need a parachute

Sorry I've never used one but I suppose the only advantage is it can be set with the pointer in corner reveals which to be honest is no benefit to me.

The main disadvantage the way I see it:

Looks much more unstable than a standard ladder.

Can't use a standoff on the ladder if you wanted to

Not suppose to use the last 5-6 rungs

Have nothing to hold on to at the top

Thats just my thoughts but I'm sure some might dissagree

why the "A" ladder is so pricey ?! what's the advantage having one

Thanks for that @norm...Good tip about using pads on soft ground

I can still use my ankalad on sloping ground as the legs can be adjust once the ladder is levelled properly.

yeh @Smurf the mid have sprung buttons and tube which slide and twist to change length of legs but they arent keen ya do it if i read their leaflet right{threw out}

think sensible adjustment not a problem probably covering themselves

after first fitting it bounced up and tried it free standing giving good shaking and happy how solid it was

then eyed the red lettered warning about not climbing past point where top legs are fixed through rung with stud bar and spacers

hmm bet ya could go higher up.i know thats tipping point but weight of the ladder would steady er, i wonder maybe just one rung up?

/emoticons/biggrin.png give it a miss too painful. like a button that says do not push we all think about pushing it:D

i use a triple ladder when doing gutters as the extra width of a triple gives a tad more resistance to ladder tilt
