Here is a backpack alternative using a drum that I have made for getting around the backs of terraced houses etc if I cant be bothered getting trolley out or to awkward for a Van mount.

box..........................£11.00

pump.......................£13.27

Battery....................£14.98

switch......................£ 1.98

240x190x90 Terminal box.

I made small feet for the box to sit on and raise a little off the floor, and screwed into the box.

wire tie the battery in and drill and fix pump with small bolts

Wire the pump to the battery and put on/off switch on the live wire.

Drill holes where appropriate and attach inlet and outlet hoses to pump. Here I attached the box to the side of the barrel but decided against it as it didn't look good.

Run the pump and then stop the flow whilst still on to check for leaks under pressure. If all is well screw lid on box. I replaced the clear inlet hose with microbore as it bent around better without kinking.

I attached the box to the barrel using a strap. Drilled a hole in the barrel lid plus a small breather hole for air. I also used a plastic length of tube to guide the microbre to the bottom of the barrel.

Attach a pole hose fitting to the outlet hose and you are good to go /emoticons/smile.png

That's what I'm doing as a spare if my backpacks pack up & you've given me ideas. Very nice. With the barrel full does it not put a lot of pressure on your box?

I'm using a thin fishing swim feeder which has a small weight on it to keep it at the bottom of the barrel. Not sure how to connect it yet & not sure if the lead weight will harm the water.

Cheers lads.

Posh, a plastic tube does a good job of keeping the hose straight in the barrel and at the bottom. just put some red tape on the hose by the lid so you know the hose is right in to the same level every time.

Hey Jimmyboots, this looks amazing. I'm thinking of using this idea as the basis for a small foldable trolley system to go in my little car (Fiat Panda) for doing the jobs that I can't get to on my bike so currently have to turn down /emoticons/smile.png

One question (possibly the first of many lol)... Can you vary the pressure on that pump? 80psi seems a lot if not.

Beccy. You can't turn down the pressure but I have had no problems with these pumps as I have put them on a couple of trolleys that I have made.

You can wire this in though to control the flow /emoticons/smile.png

Very cheap flow control, you have to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive though as they come from China.
i am very impressed mr jimmyboots..thats a great find and as cheap as chips..you have to have a like for that:)

Thanks Jimmy, I'll go for it without a controller then, it can always be added later if needed /emoticons/biggrin.png
