Help Support WCF:

Hi and massive thank you to everyone whom has given me some support and tips, really can not thank you enough an to come form professional like yourselves is really inspiring too me. I feel a little down, I done 500 flyers and got one conny and one regular customer so far and a lead. I wanted to do more but its been hammering down with rain so hard its just not stopped here. Its good today so I am out in the minute to flyer.

I have taken some advice and I will door knock in the week and I need to get a hoodie with logo on it and name and window cleaning on. Also some combats and look more rady for work. SO i will get the flyers out for now and hit facebook and then when I have my work wear I will door knock every day all day like i am working, not going to stop, only then i can say well i gave it my all. Deffo taking these tips and goign to get the bits in and then hit it in the right manner, great advice.

My flyer is pretty good from vista print all colour and professional but with a personal feel too. Really happy wth them, they are not over the top pro and borning nor weak and effortless.

Anyway out now to flyer, its a catch 22 for me as I have had such a bad year its to long to go into but money is key and i have a lack of it to get the things I need, so really building form the ground here. I have a good set up to window clean, but the extras etc will have to come once earning.

Thanks again, its really picked me up reading above and appriciate your time to offer advice.

Well done Scottie!.

Keep it going.

The basics will get you started. That's all you need at present.

Ladder, bucket, mop, squeegee, cloths.

Keep us all posted.

Don't flyer once and then forget it as done, pick some areas and flyer them every 2-4 weeks, there is a rule in marketing it has a name but I forget now, but it basically says a customer needs to see your name three times before it is added to their brain kind of thing.

I'm actually now going to trial a 6 week only option, see how that goes, but at the moment no one wants 4 weeks at all.
On a serious note Diwrnach, if you cant get them on 4 weeks, then get them on price. Crank it up to make up for the 8 weeks. Make these rich people pay like everyone else.

Thank you very much.

I fliered today, 150 out, then hammered with rain. Grr.

On facebook trying but no one out there at all.

Diwrnach - Yes I was thinking about that, do you rate then, to flyer and 3 weeks later flyer it again? I am just flyering and door kncoking, well was going to but raining.

Saw 5 different windys today, each one made me feel down, like I am going to get know where and whom am I, they have flashy vans etc.... Still, going to take this forums advice and keep with it. I have a good kit for starter, nout amazing but all unger stuff that can do the clean well, so ok there, just need better bits as I go. I dont think I will go down the WFP route, hearing lots of people near me complaing about it, im well caught in between as really wanted to do that and was my goal, but looking at next door windows today after yesterday wfp clean there not that good and no rain this morning, and there was water marks on them and runs from top frame. It made me think if your cleaning with a crush that has dirt on it you brushign dirt in to pure water and then you rinse off and surley the dirt is goig to spray off a bit thats stuck on the brush, impossible to have it 100% clean, so thats going to leave marks. I handed out a flyer and women said to me also do you do that pole thing with pur water, I dont want that, will ask my husband as i usually get him up the ladder but he is old now. Making me think. Sorry off subject matter.

Diwrnach - would like to hear about your flering ideas as it seems you have put much thought in to it, with regards to style etc... Plus you are so right, maybe a few times and the message might get home. I did flyer some streets today and the windows were more than bad, its impossible they have a cleaner, so amazed they dont call, must just not care about there windows.

Cheers.

Don't let other window cleaners put you off, say there are 5? how many customers do they need to be working full time? times that by 5, its not actually that many houses when you think how many there are!

As for flyers, I have a new idea I have not seen on here yet, but what I used to use was a flashy double sided pro flyer, on nice gloss paper etc, these didn't really work as well as I expected or wanted.

I have now bought some ink, went to staples and bought a pack of A4 paper and got them to cut it into A6 for me, so it is just normal printer paper, but decent stuff not cheapo paper.

On one side I have a VERY basic "Are your windows dirty?" "Window cleaner available" then some bullet points and contact details, one of which is a "text "Quote" to xxxxxx for a free call back" which I have not tried before but figure might work, I then have a "for another option turn over".

On the back I have a large red tick, I have written on it a dotted line for me to write a quote on, then another dotted line I have when I will be cleaning the windows in that area, then on the bottom I tell them to leave this in their window if they want me to clean them.

Plan on flyering Saturday with the date being starting work on the Monday, hoping this will mean they don't forget/misplace/forget to do it as I am telling them when I am coming which is only a couple of days away.

Won't know if it works until next week, but I plan on flyering every area I have current customers a couple of days before I am due to clean there, hopefully this will grow my round bigger in a focused area.

That is the plan anyway, might work?

Cheers mate, and will do, worth a shot, put quite a bit of thought into it over the last few weeks, its the best I can come up with that is a bit different to the normal flyer.

Worth a try anyway.

Anything to save the pennies

The free call back means peanuts money wise but younknow how they love a freebie

The wife and me have been joking that come Monday morning I will have more work than I know what to do with lol, that is why I actually changed the flyer to say week commencing, just in case, as originally I was putting a specific day, thought it would just be my luck and there would be red ticks everywhere and no chance to fit them all in.

I can dream! /emoticons/tongue.png

Yep exactly, and I know a lot of people don't like picking up the phone, reckon that is one of the biggest downfalls of flyers, tried to get around that with the text and tick.

I think that is why canvassing works for me

I will speak to anybody phone or to their face

Having the confidence to chat really helps in the way you come across to potential customers

Yeah I am great once talking to people, people warm to me really quickly, my wife often jokes how I have the gift of the jab and it is true to be honest, BUT I can't seem to get over the not fear, not sure what it is, but can't bring myself to knock on peoples doors?

No idea why, and know I need to do it.

People laugh at how i am

When i worked on the Olympics job i dealt with the top locog dudes

Seb coe came in to warehouse 1 day and i was in the office

Greeted him with a "alright fella. .want a cuppa"

Got on fine with him and my boss was "bloody hell dave"

My attitude is they are all only people like us

People seem to like it though

Yeah I am fine face to face, if I am flyering and people are outside I will chat with them and see I they want me, but knocking their door is something different, no idea why.

have a couple of famous friends so have no fear of that, loads of them round this way, have a few good storys actually, like the time I broke Ben kingsleys Stradivarius violin /emoticons/smile.png

Dr Who walking around the co-op, Jordans pub down the road, Anne diamond a friends neighbour, well was she has moved, Dwight York in his beemer driving about, sat drinking with some random person out of Coronation street, with Bob gheldof wandering along water side, just an average day round here to be honest.

One of my favourites was ringing up mr nice (Howard marks) to return his wallet he had left in my wife's restaurant /emoticons/smile.png

He actually started his "career" here lol

:whistle:Howard marks is the man

Pretty much like west london except the scenery isn't as good

Great guy, watched him live, he was here not so long back doing some more live stuff.

Lovely bloke to speak to as well.
