Do you know what; I had a few vans on the road once ( in another area), I lost sleep every Thursday night over having enough wages in the bank to pay on the Friday. I had a problem to deal with every day caused by one of the workers and I really did become scared of my phone ringing. It maybe an age thing but over the next 5, 10 or 20 years I will still be doing this but staying on my own! I am happy like this. If my eldest son (16 years , year 11) does not carry on in his current chosen field then it would be great to have him on board and maybe he would have the energy to build things but like Smurf and others it will be much the same over the next twenty years for me, but I'm happy!!!!

My short term plans are to buy a wfp back pack, maybe buy a gutter vac and carry on condensing the round. I cannot be bothered with the idea of taking someone on. I just want to keep things simple

My medium/ long term plans are to retire as soon as possible. I get my court service pension in 8 years time together with a lump sum and, hopefully, a good share dividend income to allow the Mrs to retire at the same time. Thereafter I will spend my time walking, gardening, drinking (liver permitting) and touring the entire british coastline in a camper van.

mr taytay....er....thats my dream the camper van...i told the wife just this week....it may happen yet....just hi ho and off i go.....see you on the road...mine is the van with the ladders on top..../emoticons/biggrin.png thinking cornwall way for winter scotland for summer...

i will either get you all singing my songs.....or be cleaning windows forever...

Same here m8, 20 years ago I had cleaning contracts in pubs and employed 2 cleaners and had so many windows I employed a lad,,,, total head ache and I ended up being ripped of by the window cleaner I employed , let down constantly by my cleaners and didn't really make much money , happy with just me now and at 41 I can't do with the hassle so I'm staying lonesome

My Mrs retired 14 years ago and she's only in her 40's, the lazy mare /emoticons/biggrin.png. When my youngest gets sorted (Gav knows what I mean) then she will start up a cleaning business. I'll join you on the road trip @mrtaytay

Good luck living that dream:) and as a campervan owner already can I say that life is amazing lol

My only worry is being able to find a camper van that can take the weight of all me beer and wine bottles:hehehe:
I'll empty my tank, we can shove the booze in that and do a road trip in the Tuffers mobile

I will be heading for the remotest parts of scotland cnc......er sorry, david. Catching fish from the sea or loch, frying it in the pan and washing it down with a large glass of the old rhubarb wine. Wilderness, peace and contentment.....with lashings of laziness.

I took the Mrs and our West Highland terrier to Oban for a week once. The silence was deafening /emoticons/smile.png apart form the Mrs and the dog.

We took the ferry to the Isle of Mull and drove round it, nice but I'd be bored :turd:less after a week there.

yeh i almost made it as far as the lake district once but....theres not many pubs....and if you find one...no food and probably shut..

but it all sounds good.....to get away from all the traffic....i cant believe how much, all the time every day.....

I am planning different.I am crazy one and I intend to keep working until I can and because I am into investments that what I will focus on when I am to old and maybe 2 lads working for me as well.plan might work might not.

In my final twilight years I plan to do sweet FA /emoticons/biggrin.png

Time for a nap now methinks /emoticons/smile.png

The camper van idea sounds great, might call that my "camper plan"! Question; is there anywhere you can go in the British Isles and experience total silence? By this I mean no man made noise. Cars, aeroplanes, even voices, I think it will be near on impossible. Obviously wild life does not count. Just a thought.

There will still be places In the British isles where you can experience natural silence andy......certainly on the west coast of scotland. We had a cottage about a mile from the tiny hamlet of Glenuig. It was total silence apart from the sound of the

Sea and birds.........and the clink of glasses coming from our cottage !. We had a pine martin that visited us every night to collect food from the windowsill. That was a magical sight.I have been on north and south uist and experienced the same.....also total darkness at night time as there is no light pollution from street lights etc.

If you like hiking then the Lake District has some very remote places. My favourite is Ennerdale.

The campervan, that's what were after in a couple of years. I have young children. But I'm certainly not young. I'm definitely not employing anyone. I was a pub manager years ago. Staff = trouble.

I want to enjoy my family and work. Give them good memories.
