Ladder safty - what are you using currently using and recommendations

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I have a double pointer and find it awesome for getting a good pitch. I do have a house with horrible slimy green decking at the back that made me look at safety devices. After a bit of deliberation I went for ladder spikes after reading boarcity rate them. After doing a couple of cleans the other day they feel really solid and secure. Simplicity I wanted and they are great.

Same here since you told me smurf

If using mats the ankalad is out also

Can't slip then

Had to use em both this morning

(Yes i did do 2 jobs today)

People i know with kids who would be up and awake on a sunday

Making tomorrow easier

No way i would have used the laddermats without the ankalad on her long wet grass

i can see the ankalads ideal if you are doing jobs like smurf. Rock solid . however itd be no good for a regular residential window cleaner where theres a lot of windows to be crammed into a day

ive not yet seen a device that is suitable for "a crammer" type of a round . however ,Spikes, fitted on permanently on ,are a good option , i wouldnt be without them .

They are relying on the grip on the bottom of the ladder on a pitched roof and how strong the guttering is attached to the wall of the building. I would like to see what happens when they try that out on dodgy gutters /emoticons/biggrin.png

all of these devices has obvious flaws . the makers state they are tested .

but from my own enquiries , the tests which are performed by test laboratorys are carefully crafted to avoid the flaws.

why is that? well its the maker who is paying the laboratory ,paying to get a rubber stamp , a safety certificate

ebay is awash with them too ,rubber mats of all types, weird ideas -These madmen should be stopped , altho humourous to watch the promo vids, its folks lives that are in the balance
Id never manage to use that on my 3.5M triples, too heavy to be able to adjust those legs while trying to hold the ladder off from the wall at the same time. He is a complete joker!

Mind you they must be good because he is wearing a Hi-Vis Yellow Health and Safety coat.

Hi vis has become a uniform. People think if they were a hi-vis then it gives an air of authority.

What a lot of nonsense.

That bloke is deluded.

What happens when the 'balance pipe' tube pops off on one side, The ladder collapses.

All these gizmos give a false sense of security to the user.

A bit like the Ankalad etc, i would not trust them.

Some ppl do have some crazy ideas /emoticons/biggrin.png
:eek:That is the dumbbest idea I've ever seen. Relying on a length of gutter and a couple of brackets. Not only that, he then goes and puts the device to one side. I can feel a lawsuit coming his way in the near future.
