A couple of weekend markets we attend have the mobile meat wagons but the quality of the meat is very poor compared to the butcher or even supermarket. I have been told the mobile butcher vans buy the stuff with no shelf life left so they get it for peanuts. Don't know if true but last time we bought a slab of bacon off them I tossed it out after the first two rashers.
I love a good steak but go nuts for a good slab of Gamon with an egg on.
I've got a mate that picks me up a box of chicken from the whole sellers for 20 quid. Usually around 20 breasts(biggun too: and that's a good enough deal for me. If I was picking up steak at that price I would be eating it every day too.arty::rock:
I do love a good steak but personally you can't beat a nice bit of pork
Especially a nice big loin joint soaked in daveyboys jerk marinade overnight then on the bbq with my sticky jerk sauce (sounds a bit wrong don't it) painted all over it every 10 minutes and cooked with the lid on to get it smokey
I read somewhere that pork is as good as beef or better for protein so good for us gym guys
My missus works in central London, so sometimes she finishes early and pops into Smithfield meat market. The meat from there is stunning. I often get a fresh bloomer on a Saturday morning and fill it with sausages. I'm virtually having an orgasm whilst making it
