8am til 8pm on that massive commercial job I did at haven power in April with my mate, (a Saturday)
We also did 8am-7pm on the Sunday...
And did 3 hours the Friday evening before those long hours on sat/sun - it was hard hard graft, body took a pounding, but it was with it!
Days on the trot, 6 days, never needed to do a 7 day week or more, I think it's very important to have at least one rest day in a week...

I worked non stop working 7am till 5 pm 5 days a week then collecting 4 nights 6 till 9 pm not getting in till 9:20 at night. Totally shatterd at week ends, could not be botherd to socialise or have a life. Lost touch with all my said friends at the time, when every one was going on holidays and parting I was working my guts out. I did this from the age of 21 till 25 with out a holiday, I had a couple days of each Christmas and that was it. During that time I amased a lot of work, also a lot of **** work. And went through a lot of workers. I am now 35 years old and have a amazing wife and 2 wonderful daughters and a life most people dream of. I don't take it for granted and the reason being I had to take so much **** on the way to get hear. In a way I kind of think it makes me the person I am. Responsibility and hard work make a person. If you focus on your goal and never give up keep going relentlessly you will achieve. It comes down to grit and determination you can't make this stuff you earn the fire in your belly from the hardships and **** you endur it makes you how you are. I don't shout about how I am or what I have. Good things whisper and don't need to brag. I am in no doubt some little now it all will have a wise crack to comment after this, I don't now you and won't see you probably ever. But I now if I did you would not comment your smart **** **** but be totally quiet and say nothing.
I don't want attention, I would like to help people if possible advise speak if there's any thing I have done what I can advise you on any experience I will. Not so I can feel big or good. Because I wish some one had sat me down and guided me regarding certain aspects. Mistakes we all make um were only human after all.
Well I think to be a window cleaner you are super human. It certainly takes a unique type of person, if your going to stick with it and see it through for a prolonged period of time.

when I was on the cards, it was my normal round all week then price work at the weekends for weeks on end. Usually 10hrs a day, but often 12-14 depending on travel time...

I worked 8am- 8pm on a painting job in my early days, but fked if I would do that now. For windows though I once worked until 7 but its not good as it just slows me down the next day. Probably gone 2 weeks without a day off quite often.

Used to work a manual labour job from 8am-8pm regularly every other day or so for years, else it was 7/8am-6pm and sometimes didn't finish til 10pm. My longest day with windows is probably 10.30am-5.30pm haha, it's a doddle compared, although I have finished at 7.30pm a few times when starting later at 2pm /emoticons/wink.png Its not the window cleaning thats the hard part, it's all the rest of it, canvassing and worrying about getting work in, paperwork, finances, taxes, marketing, keeping the van and equipment going etc etc that takes it toll and makes it hard work - but I'm hoping with time, when the rounds full and all on dd my life will be sweeter and I will be able to spend more time out with my little boy than growing and running a business! :thumbsup:
Cor-blimey...I feel knackered just reading some of these hours you lot work

I have done a few 12 hour shifts in my time....not because I particularly wanted to....just to keep up. I havent had an holiday all year....just a couple of bank holiday mondays and it has knackered me.....not so much physically, but mentally....the constant planning. Currently sat in the most isolated cottage on the west coast of scotland enjoying a very strong ipa and enjoying peace and solitude (in Smirisary). Its times like this when you realise that there is more to life than working your bollax off.
I havent thought about work for the past week until last night when I dreamed about being behind with my round.......... My customers were moaning about their mucky windows and also about their hair being so long.. seems i was a window cleaner cum hairdresser!. Worrying.
Time for another pint!

when I started out I did start at nine....dinner was an hour which included a sleep and then off again til six....and then collecting..
weekends....well just the same ish only working on my house building it up bit by bit..
soon altered though...as soon as I could afford it...especially in the summer...came in and off to the pub....night after night..
bloody lad as a baby would always limit me to three pints of stella...a forth and I was well gone....so maybe he did me a favour..
these days..as you know ..cheapie takes it easy...and this job is just right for that ...some days I head out and in the words of tic tic....think feck em feck em all and head back to my chair...
others I actually do work almost hard../emoticons/biggrin.png
nice post phillip...really enjoyed reading that...hope your hard work has paid off..
