For those with employees and multiple vans.

Are you sending employees out 1 to a van or 2 to a van? Definitely seems like 1 per van is the way to go but curious how others operate.

Also what are you expecting each van to bring in per day revenue wise? whether that be with 1 or 2 employees per van (doing just standard windows, no add ons)

we have 2 per van it’s not the most cost effective on domestic but with the commercial we do you cannot have loan working and risk assessment requires two people . Two people won’t do double the work of one , but again on commercial is Evans it’s self out , ime not going to put daily figures on hear for obviously reasons but it is financially very worth while .

@Pjj yeah makes sense on commercial, I was talking more about residential.

Not looking to start a bragging contest about earnings just trying to come up with a realistic minimum daily revenue per van to run a viable business and allow enough profit for reinvestment whilst also being able to pay someone a respectable wage.

@Pjj Out of interest what system do you use in your vans, I currently have a delivery only system but looking to upgrade next year. Got a quote for Ionics V4 Thermopure but finding it hard to justify the price.

Ionic’s systems thermopures in two vans and Ionic’s pro5 with Grippatank 2 man boiler set up in the other . Look at there second hand ones much better value for money . They do come up for sale on eBay now and then as well . I bought one of them of a member on hear a few years ago .

Work out your expenses then decide what you want to make from them per day , we work two per van on domestic and still make a decent profit but have commercial every week as well . The problem with posting figures on hear some won’t believe what’s possible and call you a lier and others will interpret it as boasting so it’s a no win .

Sorry forgot to add we have full ro filtration and booster pumps in all vans as we fill up on commercial work and it saves fuel driving long distances empty plus water is then free .

You just need to do the figures on it….

Start with the cost of putting the van on the road. Then work out the expected lifespan of the van. Divide the numbers up and work out the cost per week

Example
Van and system cost £25000
Expected life span on the van 5 years

£25000 by 5 means it owes you £5k per year. Assuming you expect that van to work 47 weeks of the year it owes you £106 per week

Take your other costs
- Fuel
- Insurance
- Vehicle repairs
- Cost of the water
- Cost of the tools
Etc etc etc

lastly the cost of the employee outside of the wages - pensions, NI contributions etc.

Work these out annually and divide by the amount of weeks the van should work not by 52

From there it should give you a base cost. Work out how much profit you want to make, allow some room for inflation and future pay increases. Once you have a target just add vat and that’s your employees target.
