Clearly the law thinks otherwise. Do people often fall off roofs? No, just the oncejust because someone is on a roof, does not mean they need safety harnesses, fall arrest kits or anything else in order to work safely, YOUR ALLOWED TO WORK ON ROOFS, GET OVER YOURSELF!
that is all
this is where you are worng, to comply with the 'Work at Height Regulations 2005.' you have to wear fall arrest/assist or any other safety equipment to stop you falling off the roof, if you are seen by h&s officer or someone taking a picture/video of you working up there and sent it to h&s you will be taken to court and fined for the breach of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.yes in some instances fall arrest harnesses are required, but in most cases there not, if you had any common sense you would understand that, you are allowed to work on roofs without one in many many cases.
so you have to have a safety harness on any roof? what about a flat roof? or what if there is scaffolding around the building? what if its a short term 5 minute repair? do you need to wear a safety harness on all of those examples? i doubt itthis is where you are worng, to comply with the 'Work at Height Regulations 2005.' you have to wear fall arrest/assist or any other safety equipment to stop you falling off the roof, if you are seen by h&s officer or someone taking a picture/video of you working up there and sent it to h&s you will be taken to court and fined for the breach of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

to comply with the 'Work at Height Regulations 2005 you do or have a gard rail round. when you know the regulations get back to me!hahaha! i can assure you you do not need to wear a fall arrest harness on a flat roof! what world do you live in? its amazing you manage to get any work done at all, i bet you wear a harness climbing the stairs
up to you, but if you think you dont need it then you are not safe in ur work practice. its amazing on how little people in general know about how to work safely and comply with the law.lol, ok, i think we'd better agree to disagree on this one, but i do think you take things too far, and i know your gonna say 'but thats what you have to do to protect yourself and comply with insurance', blah blah, im safe in my work practice and thats all i need to worry about
a risk assesment dose not make the roof safe at all. if you do the risk assesments propery and like they should be it will can for the correct safety equipment to be used.lol, believe me i know how to work safely, walking on a flat roof to clean a couple of upstairs windows when you have done a risk assesment of the relative dangers and condition of the roof etc, is safe, you can say what you like, but it is safe, dont make out like i work in some kind of unsafe manner just because i dont follow the exact letter of the (often over zealous ) H & S manuels, like you do
