So @spruce would it suffice to do away with a SCR altogether? Use say two 100ma leisure batteries linked together, then plug them in to a caravan type charger (like @Trev81 setup) each night to charge?

Would that be more than sufficient to supply a days worth of ample power to my pump and also my reel winder?

I bought a 12v cooler box to store grub and booze in when we went camping for 3 nights. I rigged it up to my leisure battery when we pulled up at the camp. I decided to have it connected during the day and let the cold of the night to cool it over night. My battery was almost dead when we got home. The cool box worked really well but how do people keep a leisure battery topped up when camping if the only thing you use off the battery is a cool box?
