i use Magnum washing up liquid from Aldi, ,the original green is the best, theres other flavours of magnum, pomegranate, eucalyptus, lemon, but non are as good as the green in my opinion . i usually add a dash of disinfectant to the buckets at start of the day ,to ward off stink . usually the buckets last us all day without the water being changed .

the Magnum is applied neat to the scrubber in a thin line at each house. 1 bottle of magnum lasts about 3 days, thats between 4 of us windies ,

View attachment 4959 magnum never irritates skin, worth bearing that in mind,iv had at least 8 or nine workers come and gone since i switched from W5 lidl to Magnum about 4 yrs ago , none have ever complained about sore skin but they sometimes did with W5 and i myself got stung by W5 but only after prolonged use

It's that vinegar again! Lol...I'm tempted to just try it now, even though I really don't think I need it. Surely with the liquid it does nothing at all. The stuff I use cleans perfectly for me. To add anything else is unnecessary ££ in the long run.

Do you use flash/ecover?

If so remove the flash and replace with vinegar

You will see what we mean then

You need something to give vinegar the slip going to try today without ecover just 20 mls of flash and the same of vinegar next week will try adding directly to applicator

Ah, this "person stood working underneath you constantly" drives me crazy. It's dangerous and makes the person doing the top windows job more difficult. Also there isn't a single reason to do it. Can't you get him to stagger himself behind you by like just 1 window or 1 house? This really can be likened to tailgating. People think they're putting a carrot on the end of a stick, but it really just pisses me off. Infact it actually used to make me slower. If anyone worked underneath me like that or did all the bottom windows first nowadays, I'd simply walk off the job.

appologies if you like working like that, I can understand each to his own...

Worker down below can stagger where he works but usually chooses not to. working so close you get a camaraderie and of course if the ladder needs footing well hes right at hand to do it .

im against tailgating on the roads i agree with you on that

Yes I agree. When I had a lad working for me, I would send him off down the street while I went another way, eventually we would meet up. As long as he was doing the work right, I wasn't too worried how long it took, just as long he earned me enough to pay his wages - which he did. When you're both on the same house (or working together) one will always waiting for the other.

When you're being used as a ladder slave, the privileged person doing bottoms only should be kissing your **** (since he'd be clambering up the ladder all day, if you weren't there).

But instead, I've found they seem to treat you like scum. Working underneath you, complaining when some water falls on them. Blaming you when a metal squeegee (or a body) falls on them, even though it was their fault for choosing to stand underneath someone who was up a ladder (which basically goes against the first rule of ladder safety, ie don't stand underneath someone up a ladder). Furiously working ahead of you, making you effectively have to work with dry applicator, can't even get to the bucket anyway, since they bugger off down the road with it. Yet if you're 1 house ahead of them, it's like "wah, help with this conservatory".

I've found that "bottoms people" seem to develop some kind of complex where they need to be ahead all the time. And they are not at all cordial or polite. You're there fighting like crazy with some stupid asian style criss cross washing line in a back yard, and they are there brushing past you as if you're in the way.

When I was employed as a window cleaner, I always turned down the opportunity to be "bottoms only", since I knew it'd probably make me into an **** as well, and had us both on ladders seperate houses instead. It's like lord of the rings, no man can wield the power it seems

I was obviously too good to my lad, that's why he ****ed off !!!

I tried vinegar in my mix today. I didn't tell my mate who helps me. After a while he happened to turn round & tell me his squeegee seems to be working brilliant & is gliding along the windows. The windows I gotta admit looked gleaming. Now I did find it glided lovely so will give it a go Tomorow. Now if moerman get there act together so I can get another clip I'd love to try it out with the liquadator. Still can't believe they don't sell the clips.

I've been using vinegar in my solution today and I gotta say imo the slip and shine are better! Pretty sure it's not psychological as I noticed the difference straight away
