I quoted £190 for a conny clean in and out. What would you charge?

Haven't done any conny cleans before as our main thing is cleaning and grounds maintenance of apartment blocks. Went to have a look at conservatory today. The roof was very dirty, the gutter had the allotment look about it. Sides and front were a bit cleaner as the owner cleans them. Its about 7 x 7m, no finial, sloping roof away from the house which can be cleaned without getting on a ladder. Lady wants inside conservatory cleaned as well and it's quite dirty.

Cleaning the interior is the bit that will take the most time. I imagine they' re a nightmare. I thought it would be an all day job for one person so 6 hrs at £30 ph + £10 for the unforseen?

6 hours seems bit long for a conservatory that size , I would have thought 2 hours would have been even too long. Have you any pictures

He could be right if it's bad I hate em never known one take the time I expected to?

It doesn't help that I don't have any pictures. I know from past experience that no job takes the the time you think its going to take. I've been through the stage of quoting really low because I'm desperate for the work. I try to work with the more eco chems and I've always used Ecover on the brush on really bad windows - that must work on conservatories right?

So difficult to say without a picture. But if it's 6 hours £190 seems fair enough. I'd probably be 150 -200 if I thought it was gonna take that long

Cleaning conservatories always takes me a long time. I don't like doing them tbh and tend not to promote it. I battle with those gently sloping roofs as muck always seems to come out from underneath the dividing bars seals during rinsing. I also don't do enough to justify buying a set of decent conservatory roof ladders.

If you are happy with the price then do it. You will only know if you quoted right for you after you have completed it. It will then be added to your experience.

If you quoted way too high then your customer will have a negative response. If you quoted too low then they will bite your hand off. I've never managed to get that sweet spot where you can get the maximum from the customer for the clean before they decide that it's too much. (You know that point where £199.99 is acceptable where £200.00 is far too much).

I enjoy conservatories, I find them generally quick and easy money. I've learnt glass roofs can be a nightmare and insides are uncomfortable but in general exterior cleans of upvc conny with polycarb roofs are nice jobs. A good soak in an APC and usually take 1-2 hours for an averge one.

If your happy with your price then it's the right price. We've done them from 45 upto 300. But I find them tedious , especially the decorations on the top. Had one 2 weeks ago, took 2 men 3 hours just for interior, Damn coal fires.

T.S. charges around £70 per roof panel. So 10 panels cost is £700.

You may be keen for the work but instead of selling yourself cheap use the time to leaflet and knock doors. Hard to go back next year and charge a good price if you were too cheap this year.

Personally I no longer quote any job less than £250 but that's cause the focus of the business has changed.

They sub most their work out too, cheeky sods. Sod spending 2 days on a conservatory on your knees just to justify the price.

I now get them to get a quote off Thomas Sanderson and then come back to me and I offer it them at 50% cheaper.

I did one today, just outside and priced it at £85. The customer had already got a quote from one of my rivals for £60. He didn't go with them as he found the other cleaner quite rude. How he was rude I don't know? The customer said I was quite expensive but trusted me when we spoke on the phone. Nice to know I'm to be trusted, but at £85 for a conny clean ain't expensive in my book.

I then went on to do a uPVC, window clean and conny roof clean in a less affluent area. Very small house, 4 windows, 3 panels on the conny lean to and a porch. Charged her £50 and she snapped my hand off. She had bought a Karcher for over £100 and thought sod it, I can't be arsed doing it, so she took it back to the shop and booked me. She saved over £50, got a good job done and she didn't have to do the cleaning.

Why people allow themselves to be ripped off by this national conservatory cleaning company beggars belief!

Did a full 5 bed detached today, soffits/fascias clean, black gutters but covered in green:turd: very easy job, quoted £150 took me 3 hours graft, guy was over the moon with it. Charge what you seem appropriate, and I've learned that from the well established members on this forum. Each place/area can charge more/less than others but if your happy and the custie is willing to pay then win win. I felt £150 for 3 hours work was the right amount for me which is £5 an hour more than an ER doctor.

Got the ok to do this job next Tuesday. Did a conny inside today and what a horrible experience. Not looking forward to next weeks job even at this price
