What's everyone's game plan when it comes to canvassing? I'm going to hit the streets this weekend and I was just going to post my leaflets but do peeps generally door knock as well?

Personally it does my head in when door sales people come round ask me to buy stuff. Does just dropping leaflets off generally generate much business?

Dropping leaflets works, but your left sitting waiting for phone calls..

Knocking the doors will get you the answer there and then and will help you get a more compact round. Drop leaflets through the no answers..

It's a pain at first, but after a whole you will love it..

1 area I'm canvassing I have wrote each house in each street, odd in 1 book even in another, there is approx 900 houses, and I have been marking off who I have and haven't got in, so I know who to call back to.. I don't do this everywhere, just I know there is alot of work to be got and I don't want to miss any lol

I only canvass new builds now or at weekens ill have a drive around, If I see A street thats has 2 or more houses with really dirty windows, Ill canvass the whole street.

I havent canvassed in ages... im getting really lazy now /emoticons/sad.png Going to have to get canvassing soon though as i need 200 csutomers before winter ! i got 97 at the moment !

I find with canvassing it gets like marmite, you'll either love it or hate it. I love doing it if I'm with some one but hate doing it alone as it can be a lonely and unforgiving task. I enjoy putting head phones in and leafleting though and if I spot an area that has a lot of areas I knock doors. In june I picked a whole days work in a few hours using this trick.

Im with you there mate, I love doing it with somebody but absolute hate doing it on my own.

Strange isn't it. A few years ago me and my brother in law went out and picked about £200 a month in work in about 2 days. But for some reason I only ever go canvassing now and again on my own. Really I should do it everyday

i canvass for myself and for other window cleaners, i find u gain on average 1 new customer for every 100 leaflets and 10 in 100 canvassing, its hard work but wen.u find a good area u will be buzzing from all the yes's

Get out there cos u need to cover the peps thst dont want a winter window cleaner, you should aim for 220 expext 10% to leave til yhe spring

Whats the saying "in it to win it", more you knock, higher your chances are, but I can understand its relentless, think you just have to push on regardless, and just keep going, same as all sales really - most is a numbers game. Chap said earlier up about leaflets, the thing is with leaflets, you have less control than actually face to face. Not to say they dont work of course. I think more chance, if somebody has to answer the door and listen. Just damage limitation
