What is your main service Luca if not the windows?
Windows are my main service, although I changed from specialist window cleaner to window and outdoor cleaning specialist... I meant I haven't cleaned a window 'myself' the boys are still out every day. Get your income as steady as you can at the beginning is my advice but if your big plan is to do it the other way and you've done research as you say then go for it... ain't gonna get rich offering exactly the same as everyone else so if that's your USP and you weighed up its got a good chance then try it... and good luck with it [emoji1303][emoji1303]

Thanks Luca, I was not going to clean roofs but I've got it sussed now and that service I will be offering also. I will specialise in Roofs,Render,Brickwork,Stonework,FSG's

Gutter clearance, Cladding, Conservatories and lastly one off window cleaning,, not offering patio cleaning or driveway cleaning as there is far too much competition in my area for those services and the prices they charge would shock you in a bad way!!

The reason people are saying go with windows first @Cristian is because it's very difficult to generate enough work with one off type services, you have to constantly market and advertise.

The beauty of wimdow is its generally a monthly service so it's guaranteed work (to some extent).

I offer windows and all sorts of other services.

When I first started out I did car valeting only and it was stupidly hard to get enough work, imagine posting flyers all day long for one job, paying for adwords, leaflets, website etc. The costs are huge and so is the demand on you time.

Once you have built a full window cleaning round you have a base from which you can build from. Think of it as laying the foundation to your business, once thats strong and secure yiu can start building upwards.

You also have a database of customers to offer extra services. If you employed a few lads to clean windows and had say 1000 customers that's 1000 customers to sell your add ons to for next to no cost.

That's the plan I have anyway, build the windows first then keep investing and growing. It makes total sense in my mind anyway.

I am taking on board what you and others are saying to me! I have allot to think about over the coming months before I go full time into this business! Thanks all for sharing your experience on this matter, it's gave me food for thought:thumbsup:

I'm going to add a note on my first clean tickets to this effect. We are inundated with work so if at anytime you wish to cancel please feel free to,we would rather that than non payments etc..something to that affect but a bit more diplomatic
mmm chris

not sure with your comment there chris,i try to hang on to my graft best i can

your right that we are picking up quality graft, et rid off the shixte but why plant seed to be red carded

ive grafted too hard for it to slip through my hungry greedy fingers

Very true @Duncs I agree that was a bad idea of mine. I'm happy to just keep altering the round and weeding it out myself..more proactive than reactive that will be i guess mate.

I got what you were saying Chris, you just don't want people not appreciating and bothering to pay because they are too scared to communicate that they no longer want the service. It's like being in the playground with custys sometimes!

@Cristian As Steve said, it dont work like that and being someone who makes my living from the industry, reading what you said angers me a bit to be honest. Its like you are dipping your feet in to the industry but not willing to follow through. You should leave it to people who want to do a regular service for customers and stop nicking work from others. Thats just my opinion
'One off service' only? :turd::turd::turd:
Cor that that's abit harsh. I disagree with that. Why can't he just offer one offs? Granted, he would reduce his clientele by about 80% but it sounds like he want to do one off's for all exterior cleaning so he would get his regular money from a range off different one off services. A one off aint knicking from the industry at all!

Then he'll probably end up inadvertently with a window round anyway /emoticons/smile.png

Back to the op, I think there's usually a decent percentage of customers who are keeping us on out of habit though they don't really care if the windows aren't done. There's some who are feeling the pinch and would like to save a few quid but don't get round to quitting us for various reasons. That's why I'm really liking the GoCardless as it helps keep the status quo and gives them less reasons and few opportunities to cancel.

Well after allot of thinking and researching and listening to you guys I'm going to go into window cleaning full time and try my best to build a quality round! I with also be offering add on services as well so I will see how it goes!

I wasn't successful before with the windows but I think my approach and doing them part time was to blame for me not doing well with them in the past! Oh well wish me luck /emoticons/biggrin.png
