My question is.......can you run two pumps from the same tank outlet and what’s the best way to do this?

I’m thinking of using a three way splitter with one going to the tank and the other two going to each pump. Ill be using half inch hose coming from the tank so I know there shouldn’t be a problem feeding each pump with enough water even with both on full power but I’m wandering if pump two is not in use would pump one try and draw water from pump two as well as the tank or will I need a three way splitter that has non return valves built in?

The way you are suggesting will work but try and use a bigger tee that comes out of the tank if you can I found with two pumps running off half inch it didn’t work well each pump was fighting for water I think my tank out let goes to a tee that’s three quarters of an inch then it is reduced to half inch fittings I found that made all the difference

Good stuff. If I can remember rightly my wyedale tank has a 3 quarter inch outlet but has a tap connection fitted (one that come with the tank)which reduces it to half inch bsp. I’m thinking of the same as you but using a tee that goes from one half inch to two 8mm fittings.

Would you say there’s no need for non return valves then? And also what issues did you get when the pumps were fighting for water? Was it just a case of one of the poles dropping pressure or more serious issues like forcing air locks into the system?

I found that that neither pump got enough water turned one off and the flow was fine using a three quarter tee I found it worked fine didn’t use any non return valves , didn’t get any air locks but there wasn’t enough water in the half inch pipe to supply two pumps at the same time

Thanks for the advice matey[emoji106]
My way of thinking was if my two main hoses were 6mm id then my main feeder hose coming off the tank would need to be at least both the two mains together which would be 12mm making a half inch or 13mm more than enough. My pole hoses are 5mm giving me even more leeway.
