That's why I switcehed to window cleaning. Started losing coal customers to gas central heating. The local council and army estates were being converting streets at a time. I was an employee but I could see the good days were going. Travelling further - selling less coal. Mentioned to a friend that I was thinking of window cleaning and he says that he had some work I could have. It was about £100 worth. On the basis of that I got some kit together and started canvassing my coal customers. I did the coal round 'til about 11am then out on my window round. Did that for 2 months then went full time on window cleaning.
