Would the reason for blowing fuses every time the flow control is cranked up be a fault with the flow control itself, or maybe something else, every time I increase the flow control slightly the fuse blows? Thanks

Does the fuse blow if you have the switch in the full speed position (I'm assuming it's a Gardiners)? If it doesn't low on the full flow setting then it's probably the speed controller but I can't guaranty that.

If i leave it on minimum it’s fine, the moment I turn the dial up just a little..the fuse blows, yes it’s a gardiners BP

Red is definably 10 amp on the gardeners backpack. Same as a car fuse. If your putting a 3amp fuse in think that's why it's blowing.
Ah, I’m sure it came with a 3 amp, hence why I bought a pack of 3 amps, ok.. I’ll up it to 10 amps & try that, thanks

I'll double check with mine today and confim
Just realized that I don't have the backpack in me today ?

If the fuse is bright red it's 10amps
If the fuse was a yellowish colour it could be 3 amps.

As was suggested earlier if you put it on boost without using the flow controle does it still pop the fuse?

On the Gardiner website it says this backpack takes a 3amp fuse. This is a purple coloured fuse and the same one I've had in our backpack for around 5 years.
Gardiners does say you could go to a 5amp.

"Backpack Blade Fuse - V3
3 amp
Please note: only up to a 10 amp (3 or 5 are ideal) blade fuse should be used for the backpack. Using a higher amp blade fuse will invalidate the warranty on the backpack."

I would try a 5 amp tbh.

I'm inclined to go with @ched999uk
Does it blow when the pump rocker switch is switched over to full speed?

If it doesn't then you have to consider the speed controller or a wire short.

If the Fuse is blowing there is a fault either with the Pump, the controller or the wiring. Fuses react to heat caused by a short circuit. Left unchecked the fault will get worse

Exactly. This is why we asked him to check the switch on full, which bypasses the controller. If the fuse blew, then it's a motor problem. If not, then it's wiring or the controller.

if you send gardiner an email they are really good - my backpack broke and they give you a step by step instructions on what to do
