Does my booster pump need to be very close to the mains water supply or will it make no difference if it's on the end of a 25 metre hose length, will it work as good being this far away from the tap?

If you get 6 or 7lpm (4021 but 9 to 10 lpm on a 4040) through the hose then there shouldn't be a problem if its at the end of the hose. You will have a problem if the hose is frozen during the winter.
