Had another cracker of a reason for canceling today. Sent the normal text. only cleaned for the 3 times

Received one back saying we would like to cancel.

OK no worries was there a problem.

Not for me, but my husband was home last time and said it only took you 25/30 minutes to clean all the windows and doors. for £20 he would expect it to take longer. and he believes that's to much money for unskilled labour.....

When all said and done, you're agreement with the customer was to clean the windows and frames of that property you did that there was no complaints about your workmanship, so the time it takes is irrelevant. Some customers want blood.

Don't forget xmas is just around the corner some people think of saving a few quid , The only thing that bugs me is if I feel they are giving me a crap excuse rather than the truth I prefer people been honest .

im a sucker for old folks:hiding: had a filthy bungalow and gave him the 4 weekly price not a first clean price:hey: his arm was in a sling he had had a fall so i thought poor old boy! he put it on a bit, so i explained i will do it under that understanding. next clean the act had dropped & he didnt want a regular clean just a one off...

Just quoted a lawyers firm today , really dirty Windows (. 4-6 months) least ,they called me by leaflet. I qouted it to around 30 pounds. 1st. Floor and bottom. ,he wrote back that it was a little pricey to their previous cleaner. He said " can you do it for 20 pounds?, then we got a deal !" My reply was : " the prices may vary ,and so the stability and quality too. We have to stick with our qoute,to be able to provide a good quality and stable service. /emoticons/wink.png

First of all if their windows look like .... , then they obviously don't get cleaned much for their 20 pounds. At that price he don't wanna show up. Secondly, if I were foolish enough to knock off 10 pounds ( which in itself is rediculous) it would be the same as saying "I was gonna rip you off" or "here's my profit , help your self " AND thirdly,he didn't say how often that "20 pounds deal" was gonna go down ... No ! Gotta go with the qoute, stand my ground, and if they call again, my integrity and honor is SO intact ! :hehehe:

They know you probably won't be interested if they just asked for a once only job, so they agree to your terms and promise that they have several friends who are also looking for a regular, reliable window cleaner. They are just telling you what you want to hear.

We have only been cancelled once that I can recall where the lady told the truth; "I'm skint." The rest lie.

The other side to this is that the lady of the house sanctioned us to clean but the husband disapproved of it. We've had that several times over the years.

We called them props in the motor trade. When they came into the dealership to renew their motobility car they were pushed in in wheel chairs, assisted by their carers, hobbled along with crutches and walking sticks, you name it. They believed that the motobility salesman had the power to disallow their renewal (I didn't use the word purchase because we the tax payer paid for that.)

On the day of collection, not a prop in sight. They were all miraculously cured between the first visit and collecting the car. /emoticons/biggrin.png. We had one that arrived with a motor home towing a trailer with the old motobility car on the back. Off the old one came and he drove the replacement Saxo onto the trailer and strapped it down. They were off to France for the summer. Nothing wrong with him.

With regard to window cleaning. we've had a fair share of props used by potential customers. We had one come out dressed very seductively in a low cut blouse with nothing underneath. Looked like a million dollars. She turned out the be the most awful payer and we could never find her home. Eventually another lady moved in and she paid. Last time I saw them the original lady introduced the second as her wife. I was going to ask her how lesbians sort the male and female roll out or if they both call each other their wives, but decided collecting was more important that evening.

Anyway son in law took the account over and I eventually end up finding them in another house and got the money she/they owed us.

We had similar with a lady in her 40's. Business lady renting a flat on an estate through the week and traveling back the Wakefield for weekends. Dressed in a short Scottish kilt and really looked attractive. She didn't have money but would send a cheque. Despite many reminders she never paid us and disappeared back to Wakefield. There are a couple of other flats with tenants on that estate and she gave them all the impression of a successful business lady. Even when she still lived there, the other tenants knew she hadn't paid us. One even offered to pay her bill on her behalf - "we don't do that sort of thing in this place you know."

Moral of the story. Beware of the props. They are using them to hide something./emoticons/biggrin.png

Just had a text, saying she's had spoken to her husband because she was happy with the cleaning.

she probably got a quote from someone else and he wanted to charge more than you... now she realises she had a good thing :thumbsup:
