Hi all

I'm fairly new to this lark and someone has mentioned a potential job - a commercial greenhouse.

I've never heard of greenhouses being cleaned.   Thus there must be perils in doing so but I cannot fathom what they are!

I have no idea whether they simply want a quick exterior wash and go with the WFP or whether they are looking for a thorough clean, interior and exterior.

I just thought I would gauge your views before I progress further discussions.  Much appreciated.

Done a few wfp inside and out Haha. A very wet job on the inside but still preferred to to tradding

Just look at it like a conservatory deep clean but more awkward

We have done a couple in and out generally I spray them with a hypo mix first this will kill the algi and any potential disease that can affect the plants so you are offering a sanatising  service as well , it will also kill the green where the pains of glass overlap each other , spray with hypo mix leave for 30 muinits rub with wfp rinse well with garden hose then pure if needed we do one every other year for a nursery , don’t press to hard with the pole as the glass used is low grade and will crack easily

I presume that there is nothing growing inside these green houses when you clean them as they will die as well.

What PPE do you use as the operator is bound to get covered in hypo dripping from the insides?

I'm glad you pointed out how fragile the glass used is.

No nothing is growing in them that they want to stay alive  ???, we use white hooded painters suites with respirators and goggles , but if you clean one side up to the ridge and stand on the other side you don’t get any on you anyway , we spray up to the ridge starting at the lower sections working up to the ridge , leave it for 30 muinits rinse with garden hose tk remove hypo then light rub with the pole and rinse again , then do the same for the other side hope this makes sense .

Thanks all.

All this talk about using chemical and wearing boiler suits have put me off!  I may follow up and discuss their requirements first and find out exactly what they want.

My sense is if they want a thorough clean inside and out, then I will turn it down.  But if they simply want a quick wash and rinse on the exterior, then I can do it.

If the greenhouse is empty, I would be prepared to make an attempt but the last thing I want to do is kill any plants and the likes.

I borrowed my boss's WFP van and took it to my allotment to clean my 8x10 greenhouse... i had to do everything twice and i got Abosolutely soaked.... but then again im a trad cleaner so was just brushing and sprayong everything.

Came up lovely tho
