Hi everyone
I wonder what's the proven concentration of washing up liquid (or washing up liquid plus vinegar) in the belt-hung spray bottle that you would use while working on the ladder. Should the solution be so thick as in the bucket that stays on the ground level, or much thicker? And when it's appropriate to use the spray bottle, is it better to spray from the bottle directly on the window glass, or rather on the cloth or the applicator?

Any advice will be most appreciated.

OK DannyB. This is always popping up, and there is a difference of opinion. The way I work is this; I spray directly onto the glass, I have a bottle on my belt (not a bought one, but one I've made), the water in it would be the same as in my bucket if I had one, but I don't use one at all. I've been using this system for the last 5 or 6 years, and it does work, providing you do it properly. you need to have a scrubber on the squeegee, don't use an applicator. I use a Wagtail, but I used to use an ordinary squeegee before that (Wagtails are better suited to this method). So it is a matter of spraying onto the glass and then using the scrubber to move the water round the window, as you would if it was an applicator. Then you squeegee off in the normal way. One thing about the water, it should have a very high detergent content because it needs to be working quickly on the dirt. The object is to only put enough water onto the glass so it is not sloshing everywhere, then when squeegee off, there should be little or no detailing to do (wiping round the frame). Take it from me, it is a good method.

I talk to Chris now and then..it is good but dirty frames i wipe

I have a wagulator with a scrubber on it also

It's my way of doing things

If you want to work without a bucket. You'll get away with using a wet microfibre on a few houses before it gets to dirty or drys out too much to give the frames a wipe. Simply put a couple of extra wet ones in a carrier bag in the bottom of your pouch and they will stay wet until your ready to use them. I find that you can work most of the year without a bucket. I use a bucket when it gets hot..

I do that with my applicator if it looks grubby rather than use a bucket

Outside taps always get a thumbs up from me. Got caught short once and topped up using a water butt. Abit of pure to finish off that job lol. As long as you remind yourself that you can't leave a Window until it's clean. u can't go wrong. We all have different ways. I change all the time. Helps me motivate myself. I use a brush first get rid of the dust and webs etc. Wipe the frames, give the window or applicator a squirt and squeegee with a Liquidator. I also have some super fine brass wool for pain and water marks and a scarper for paint and birds plop.
