Hello . First post but have been reading for a while now!

Just starting out, one of the first jobs I have been offered by a neighbour includes a conversatory, how would I go about cleaning all the roof and stuff? This is most likely a first clean so will be a bit grubby to say the least.. I have only ever seen videos of wfp systems cleaning them so bit baffled about it..I only have trad equipment including poles n stuff ..

Cheers /emoticons/smile.png

start at the top and work down . get the roof wet first with a garden hose . its not too bad a job long as its not a red hot day when itll dry to fast on you

Oh yeah I read that after I wrote this...

It will take a good part of the day I'm guessing? May just palm it off to someone with a wfp system in the area but take a small percentage of it!

hey @dave_m141 just got a ankalad type device to allow free standing ladder, got unger trad pole, porcupine scrubber and brush head to fit

going to scrub the ars- off the conny roof on free standing ladder and blade the straight panes and wagtail [ as Smurf suggested ] triangle panes

hoping this will do a good job and i wont:gush: after

Yep that should do it @boarcity said also using a garden hose to speed thing up. Best make sure however you don't go getting water under the ridge (brush bits) also at the back of the conservatory roof wall plate where it meets the wall as they sometimes can leak. I would make a point in asking if they have had any leaks already from the roof.

boarcity couldnt say it any better...the hot day thing especially.../emoticons/smile.png

We have all been there and yes I was once a virgin too /emoticons/biggrin.png

All my first jobs I winged it to be honest but still used a logical approach to work out the best way how to do things all on my own.

I soon found out no job is ever the same and the ones you think are going to be easy usally end up to be a right pain in the arse...

hey @cheapncheerful , respect ,ya words are massive

I found that an Ettore 'porcupine' applicator sleeve is useful for things like dirty conservatory roofs. It gives the glass or polycarbonate a good scrub.

Cheers for the help.been practicing on my nans yesterday haha nice garden hose and a brush, came out quite nicely, gonna order myself a porcupupine today!

Also could I have your advice on a ladder.

Would this one be good enough ?

Can attach a free standanding step platform too.

The one I have now is an old ish used one from my dad's days as a roofer, not the best thing to use anymore!

That company also has their own website: http://www.laddersandscaffoldtowers.co.uk/acatalog/Extension_Ladders.html

I haven't used their ladders myself, but they look just fine to me.

I currently use an extension laddder myself, but would love to use a conservatory ladder for cony roof, I can't justify one though.

Obviously you wont have a lot kit when first starting out. Get a cheap car cleaning brush and a hose, the rest is window cleaning equipment.

Put you ladder against the conservatory to the side of where your cleaning (I use old rubbers from a squeegee to stop any marks on the gutter and avoid putting the ladder on any brackets). If its a poly roof drench the hole roof straight away with a hose, fill your bucket with flash and washing up liquid (I use morning fresh). Use your car cleaning brush to clean the to the hole roof remember always to the side of where your cleaning (saves you getting wet) keep hosing it down to see if youve missed any bits (the hose should loosen a lot of bits up). Just leave it to dry after.

If its a clear glass roof its a bit tuffer to do. Use the same technque use your pole again but your squeegee on the end and just pull it down the glass. afterwards use a bungee or a elastic band to put a cloth on the end of the pole and polish it up. I try to look through the windows upwards to check its done properly.

Step by step guide . Cheers buddy! Guessing you use there water yet through the hose?

Il just give it a bash n see how it goes.

How long does it take on average?

Of course lol sometimes I even use there kitchen tap if I have to. I'll properly get a tank one day but I haven't had any complaints sometimes they let me use there hose.

It's The way forward ! How long does it take roughly? Would you say doing trad work keeping a hose in the car would be a good idea then?

Only literally just starting out. I work full time so will be doing this after and before shifts and on days off to build up m then eventually over time, just leave n do this full time!

Also how long do you reckon it would take to build up say £1300 worth of work?

I'm hardworking and proper motivated for this so I am determined to get somewhere doing it!
