Of course(I have 2 x 105ah batteries in tandem wired up to a b to b charger)but I always start my van first before firing up my heater then drive to my first job.by the time I get there which is usually 10-15 mins I've got piping hot water ?

Yes you can but obviously it will impact the state of charge on the batteries for work the next day unless you have a charger plugged into it over night

Yes there are systems that will do this you put it on the frost setting and it cuts in and out depending on the temperature
