So I used my backpack last week and thought the battery was just near dead so charged it and used it again this week. All charged up and connected ready to go and the same thing happened. Never sounded as powerful and you could **** harder with black fan jets in. Has anyone else had this problem?

March 2017 it was bought. It hasn’t been overly used either so surely the battery would be ok?

Do you charge it after every use?  I think you're supposed to to keep it in good condition.  I've had mine a year and it it's still good with almost daily use.  I don't think the replacement batteries are very expensive if it is that causing the problem.

If you want a mobile portable system then do not buy backpacks mate, all backpacks you are buying are cheap Chinese low quality builds hence the reason they always go bust after 2 months of heavy abuse.

Make your own portable system or buy a pure freedom trolley which can last you for 10 years

I’d agree. The robustness of the PF trolleys are hard to beat if it’s going to get heavy use. I’ve used one for all my work now for 11 years. However, I’ve never had a lead acid battery go longer than 12 months. The last few were like clockwork, almost to the week each year.

I can’t speak to the Nano batteries though as mine is the standard PF trolley

Been using a Gardiners backpack everyday for 15months.Never had a problem.I do charge it every day though.

Its a minature lead acid battery. If you let it go flat it with sulphate up and become useless in exactly the same way a starter or leisure battery does.

The only solution is to replace it. If your backpack isn't used then you need to put it on charge regularily to keep it fully charged.

The instructions on the side of the battery tell you to recharge after each use. But if you don't use it often then you need to treat it as you would a normal car battery. If a normal car battery goes flat and isn't recharged immediately it becomes useless.

My son uses our Gardiner backpack virtually ever day and it gets charged nearly everyday. That backpack is nearly 2 years old.

Just to qualify my last post. The First 9 years I used my PF Trolley set up as standard. The last two years it has been set up using a backpack pump and battery to help lighten its weight. However, even with this setup, I still haven’t managed more than a years use without having to replace the battery. My current one is on its 9th month, so we shall see...

As Mark067 say the pf trolleys are very tuff and my son uses his every day with approx 40m pu hose reel attached can't remember how long he as had it only 12kilos in weight and narrower than a back pack works great if your round needs to mobile for alley's or parking problems,  We only now use backpack for going through people houses.

I’m guessing the battery is the problem then as it hasn’t been charged consistently. I have a jet ski battery that I will test it on. If not I might make something up myself. It’s just for spraying chemicals for pvc jobs. Wouldn’t you know I’ve been getting swamped with them as soon as it packs in ?

@Hazhas awoken from his long deep sleep. Good to have you back with us.

In all due honesty our Gardiners backpack has more than exceded our expectations for the price. Its used virtually ever day. If I compare the cost of them to the first backpack we got then we are more than happy.

Yes its Chinese and its cheap, we had to modify the clip for the straps and we have to put a strip of duck tape around the threads so the lid doesn't pop off, but it serves its purpose.

The difference between a backpack and a PF trolley is the PF's trolley uses heavy duty components, basically a portable van mount. You can't have everything.

I will be going back into hibernation mode soon lol

and true i think the PF trolley is the best a window cleaner can get lol

@spruce has pretty much covered it, But most lads who use a backpack use it for the odd jobs like myself I have some shop fronts and the odd awkward access job and I would pick the backpack over a trolley as an add-on to my van mount purely for ease of use and easily portable as in compact and lightweight , ooh and it's £100's cheaper

Could be some **** in the pump. It is possible to pull apart and check. Watch out for the springs if you do!

Just a follow up . Ordered a pump of eBay for a 10r. Swapped it over and now working perfect again ??
