Gardiner vs Ionics

WCF

Most of the wear on my poles seems to be on the inside from grit that’s been pulled in when working in wet conditions. I’ve broken three pole sections in the last four years, one on an SL-X and two on my Xtreme. All three have been paper thin in the middle.
Two big steps in reducing wear whilst working I’ve found is to extend the pole vertically or as close to vertical as possible to reduce friction between the pole sides and keeping the pole as clean as is reasonably possible.

That's right, and also do your top windows first, with it already extended, and then the bottom ones with it collapsed, that way you reduce the number of times you extend and collapse the pole on each job.

Yeah, I have a lot of terraced work where I do all the tops of a number of houses first, sometimes as many as six before doing the downstairs for this reason.

I bought a CLX 27, with the three extra extensions as my only pole and it has served me very very well, I have used this pole daily, 5 days a week for nearly 6 years straight and it has never let me down, it is on its last legs now though and a couple of sections have broken over the years, so they have been cut down and refixed. I'm holding out until the end of my financial year (this month) before a buy a new one with all the sections.

I find the CLX the most hard wearing pole on the market. Nothing beats it for longevity.
Its true my CLX 27 is still going after 6 years but I hardly use it now as my XTREME 25 is so light and beautiful to use, I use it for 95% of my work. My body so appreciates the lightness of this pole. Yes it is much more fragile and you have to take care of it, but for me its totally worth it.

A few years ago one of my mates was looking for a new 35ft? pole, he wanted to order the latest from Ionics, I suggested he get an SL-X. Not being short of a bob or three he ordered both. Apparently he thought that the SL-X would be **** compared to the Ionics and he would then give it to me.......I'm still waiting!
