Following on from the annual litany of “what gloves?” threads just thought I’d stick this recommendation up. I do suffer a bit with cold hands so

I’ve finally got some gloves that work, warm and waterproof! Had them for a few weeks now and very pleased, yes pricey but how many pairs of sh!t ones have I bought over the years, Sealskinz are too cold, as were Musto, neoprene too sweaty, skytec argon - cold and wet after 5 minutes, aquatek cold room gloves - bloody cold albeit waterproof, Lomo helmsman’s gloves - comfy but not insulated enough, the list goes on

Viewers of a price sensitive disposition look away now, spec on the Rab website but they are available cheaper elsewhere

Yeah time will tell, I’m only using them for a bit of pole work, not anything rough, just enjoying the heat for the time being!

Personally, if I needed to wear ski gloves or hiking ones I'd just pick up a pair of cheap skiing gloves which have worked for me in the past.

Just used sportpursuit for the first time and they do some great deals. I'm trad only so bought some merino wool glove liners, great quality and half price. They work really well with nitrile disposables on top, lovely and warm.

Totally agree, Showa 282 Temres are hard wearing, used them when I was a roofer, handled slates, battens ,nails and ridge tiles no bother.

You just use the cheap blue ones? Might try a pair for gutters, they look similar to the aquatek cold room gloves I f it’s just fleece lined they don’t seem to work for me, we seem to suffer from reynauds and chill blains in our family!

I’ll take a look in there, I was reading reviews and came across them and thought shove it, if they last a year without me being in agony I’m happy but always happy to save a bob or two !

For gloves i just use cut proof ones from screwfix ok they aren't waterproof or warm but for price they last longer than others ones I've used when using the pole all day and winding up the hosepipe

I use Showa 306 extra large ( waterproof) with heated glove liners in which I got from Temu for £5. Battery pack in the inside of my jacket then running through the arms and into the gloves. Cost is £25 altogether

The problem I have is longevity of gloves I use. Wear and tear,particularly on the left glove. I'm right handed so the left hand is used to open/closes clamps, extract/detract poles, so the glove disintegrates in no time. So spending alot of money on gloves is pointless.
I've found skytec argon and similar last longest ... but nothing really keeps the fingers warmish. Thought about heated gloves but put off because they will just get wrecked.

The Skytec Argons are ok but the problem I have with them is there too tight the biggest size... Biggest problem with all of them is when you wash them...

Try Showa 306 as an outer glove (extra large to give room . and cheap heated glove liners from Temu or Ali barbar . The Showa is waterproof and lasts so it doesn’t get wrecked

I have found the Argon extras to be on the big side and after a few years you get used to your hands smelling like a dead rat.
