Hot water unit not firing up

Hi all.my hot water unit is not firing up the gas supply to it is good if I look through the side of the unit you can see it fire up there instantly goes out again any ideas thanks

Could be something as simple as the flow, mine plays up if I switch to pencil jets or I have played about with the pipe work (which it did when I re-plumbed a section and it got a tiny airlock in it). Crank your flow up on the controller and see if that makes any difference. Other than that the flow switch could have gone?

Thanks for the reply I've played around with the flow checked gas and any pipes but still no good you can see it fire up but instantly goes out no loose wires just not sure what it is

You say your gas supply is good to it, but that really sound like a gas problem.

Mine does that when the bottle is low.

Hi Steve just over half a bottle left.. that was my first thought..going to have a good look at it tomorrow I'm lost with the hot thanks

I guess the ignition is battery powered.  

Change the batteries.   I had same issue.  It was enough power to spark the ignition but not enough to arc.  I know it makes no sense but that was the issue. Batteries too low.

Just tried some new batteries didn't work checked all the wires and connections are good wiggled some wires around gas supply seems good but same  just fires up instantly goes out..not sure what's going on.

If it was a mains gas appliance with those symptoms it would probebly be the thermocouple, don’t know of a portable heater has one or not ????

Mine was doing that , noticed water dripping down the chimney that goes through the van roof , once it dried up it ran fine , I sealed up the leak and all was good again [emoji106]
