My lad gave me the idea as I'm using his laptop and noticed it hadn't got Google earth downloaded. I told him I was downloading it and he said our latest car was now on the drive (he'd seen it via Google maps street view).

Then the penny dropped with me. Saves driving around. Not sure how often it's updated. If it was 3 years ago most won't be on there sadly, but it's an idea though.

Oh and I aint found any that I don't know of yet. :angry:

We use google earth a lot for solar enquiries. The panels do not always show on the roof, but it gives you a good idea of what type of roof you are dealing with and the lie of the land. Not a bad idea mate, but tends to be a little out of date at the moment. It will come good though.

I use this for quoting. If someone rings, I ask them if they have a con or an extension around the back. Once I have the info from them, I have a look at there property on street view, and give them a quote between x and x. Works a treat.

google mape where we are, are 2 years out of date.

Bing maps are 6 years out of date on the close up view, but under 2 year on the aerial view.

Exactly what I do as well, I'd say 99% accurate quotes.

Ive tried this but it never works in my favour lol

Theres to many variables for me to give an accurate quote

Exactly what I do as well, I'd say 99% accurate quotes.

It saves so much time. Like you said it's 99% right. It swings in roundabouts, if I get one under priced by a quid or two, then u can guarantee you will get another job that "you" get which you have over priced but still get the job. As long as you know what is around the back then normally the price is right. If you also price between like (£15-20) then that gives you some leverage.

1) unblock downspout and clear out badly blocked 7m gutter run & above conservatory

2) deep clean all this conservatory roof including pointy bits & guttering inc 2 box gutters on the wall of the house.

Out of interest what would you charge?

I don't clean gutters, so would pass on that one (as I have not got the time). If it's a deep clean on the con, then I would charge (going with the size you have given me) £50 and allow up to 2 hrs to clean it.

Now if they wanted the con looking pure white again, like it did when brand new, then I would get my mate out who has all the upvc chemicals, ladders, different tools to make the con looking like new, as that's his forte. He would bang on £20 for me as commission.

That's how I work, and works a treat.

Again wouldn't be doing the Gutters, maybe on the connie but they may as well get someone to do both so would turn it down.

Honestly I only have 1 house that big so wouldn't quote from google on something larger than I'm used to, something like that I'd want to see up close and personal. Quoting from google works for me though, quote a couple of quid either way and tell em connies etc I can't quote until I see it. I get mostly jobs in areas I'm fairly familiar with anyway.

Well may suprise you all but that kind of job I would charge no less than £200

£55 for that one gutter run to be cleared & downspout unblocked

£145 to deep clean conservatory roof

That should take at least 2 hours to deep clean that, Only 50? Is that just a standard charge for conny roofs or would a smaller one be cheaper?

I work on the merit of £25 an hour. if it's smaller than I would charge less. But how long is a piece of string... I have cleaned some near me (Wigton Lane) known as millionaires Road, and charged £80 to clean 1 con which took me just over 3 hours. The biggest con I had cleaned.

Other end of the scale, a small 3m con I charged £30 and take me an hour to clean. I don't climb ladders and always let the cust know before what to expect on the clean. I always tell then it won't come up looking brilliant white (looking new) and if that's what there after than my mate comes into force with his cleaning methods. For the con (in the above pic) he would charge at least £130 to clean it, but would take him 6hrs.

Indeed that style conservatory is a pig to do so would take about 4 hours and would need to use of conservatory ladder and other bits of kit to deep clean it properly. I found that that style the back sloping roof glass, frames & pointy bit are hard to reach & clean properly let alone the box guttering

If you can clean one of these to a high standard it will make you feel like a pro but trust me can be very hard work /emoticons/biggrin.png
