Thanks Shazzy. I wouldn't put systems in vans for a living though lol.

What's good about doing your own system is that you learn everything about it to correct any problems etc. This system works perfectly and I never get air locks so long as I remember to turn off that tap at the tank outlet when travelling with not much water in.

The only thing I have changed is I have also used the microbore hose straight from the pump to the reel instead of the regular garden hose, and changed the plastic connectors to these. /emoticons/smile.png

Have you seen this video?

Has to be the worst video ever.

And also has to be the worst van system ever.

What a mess, how does this guy work like that, he's havin' a laugh!

 Yeah, the video link has obviously been put here to show us 'how not to do it'.

But i feel sorry for the guy, he seems to think that he is doing well.

If that van showed up on these shores, he'd be laughed back to the US of A.

jimmy on these gardiners fittings, this one, shut off twin couplings with plug, does this mean when you disconnect the hose pushfit fitting from it, no water can leak from them,

like the female rectus 21 , i have plenty of 8mm microbore hose if i can use that instead of 1/2 inch garden hose, and your normal plastic pushfits @£1

if so what would i connect onto my barb fittings coming from the pump, which i have my garden hose clipped onto the male hose barb straight 3/8th - 1/2 barb screwed into pump inlet + outlets.

it will be ideal if they allow no water to leak from the fittings if uncoupled from pushfits,

Ok, just bin out and took these pics. Heres my fittings from the pump. First a normal brass 3/4" male hozelock type fitting. This fits to the pump with a 3/4" to 1/2" reducer thread, like the 4th pic along in this link. You can see the grey reducer in it.

Then I use this to connect to the 6mm ID microbore

Or this if you want to stop the flow when disconnected

At the reel I use this so the flow from the pump is stopped when disconnected from the reel.

I have made a plug from hoselock connectors to put in the reel if I ever disconnect at this point.

So does it make any difference using a smaller bore hose on the outlet side of the pump to your reel?

Why I ask is surely it will put more stress on the pump doing that rather than using a 1/2 inch outlet hose to the reel?

You must be the first to use microbore like that as I've never seen it done that way before.

@Smurf , The pump runs perfectly for me mate. I did do a bit of researching and I found 1 or 2 that have done it. When you think about it, the pump has to push the water through 100 metres of microbore anyway so its not going to make any difference if its from the pump or from the reel, it is still going through 6mm

im thinking of doing it this way with 8mm microbore hose, they look better secure fittings than the simple hozelock plastic pushfits i have just connected th get started.

now is the time again to be getting fittings that dont fit, then reordering for other bits.

eeehhhh the fun of it all
