I'm all for saving a few quid but what I find when this has happened before is that once customers see that there is a wee bit of work involved suddenly the few quid seems like a bargain and you end up with the work back again.

yeah maybe ya might have to raise the price when ya get the work back

I've mentioned before there a good diy tool for insides but the fad doesn't last very long especially when they try to do awkward exterior windows.

I noticed one old boy was up his ladders using one and looked like he was shiteing himself. Bless him as he could not clean them from the inside /emoticons/biggrin.png

Can we use this thread to take bets on how long until he comes crawling back?/emoticons/biggrin.png

People clearly don't understand how much work it is, not to mention it's probably even harder using the karcher- bloody things huge.

To be honest many say to me they own one but they still get me to do the outsides. It's a pity they cant be bother on the insides as that thing works well in the right hands /emoticons/biggrin.png

I recently had a customer ask me to do just the uppers outside as she had purchased one and was planning on the bottoms her self. I have gone along with it as I'm sure once the weather starts getting ****** she'll revert back to me. we'll see.

Fair play to them for having a go but I'LL BE BACK said with leather jacket shades and an Austrian accent.

I wouldn't do just the uppers I would drop them.not worth the grief for the money

Was thinking this myself. But to make it pay I would give a higher price for the uppers, i.e not half the price of the clean. In other words, if its a £20 clean, I would knock it down to £15 assuming the upstairs has the same amount of windows as the downstairs.

Apparently they are not suitable for exteriors because it damages the impeller.

Think some take it personally when cancelled due to this but it purely boils down to the customer has a new toy novelty soon wears off.

You are right about some, but with regards to my last post, theres a method to the madness;

1) The customer is more likely to come back if it is only saving them a fiver once they realise how much works involved.

2) Even if they don't, you've just effectively upped your hourly rate

Good point

1 Year and a customer finally got sick of the karcher got them back last week and put the price up £2.00

Ive been busy /emoticons/tongue.png

I'm with Smurf on this. Drop me then, forget calling me.

"Sorry too busy to take on new customers"

I had three stop me because there was a guy living in the village who sat in the pub telling everyone he would clean their windows on Saturday morning, for a fiver.

All three were £15 each.

Three months later one of them rang to ask me to start again and was quite miffed when I said I had replaced her and had no space.

It appears this guy only did them once!

In turn all of them tried to return and was told no. Word soon got around.

The only thing I would say to that is you are oppening the door to more competition in your area as these people will look elsewhere, are you not cutting off your nose to spite your face so to speak? Fine if you don't need the work though. However I do understand your point.
