Mongrel pole

Evening peeps.
Got several old poles that I’ve gone through throughout the years and was thinking of building one out of several sections I have laying around.
Obviously SLX sections are thicker than xtreme ones, so before I start faffing around with them, has anyone made a pole out of mixed sections?
ie, will the SLX sections slide into the Xtreme ones ok?

It should work as all the clamps are the same size for each number section irrespective of pole type.

Just cobbled up a CLX, SLX and Xtreme 44' pole. Quite whippy at 44' but doable

I have used an SLX #1 section inside an Xtreme 25 whilst waiting for a replacement section with no problem.
It was interesting to note the difference in handling though with the slightly heavier section in the top of the pole when extended.

I have and extreme 22 with section one and two from a SLX. Slots in fine, SLX sections are a bit whippy. Use it as a back up pole.

Been doing it for more years than I can remember the only thing that I noticed when doing it recently is that not all sections will fit inside of each other I found out the other week, also the newer resi necks can be a tight fit into section #1 not sure why this was as I thought the sections had been reduced in diameter a little over the years.

@steve garwood I checked my 27ft pole yesterday it has x1 3kcarbon weave s-max section around 5 years old x1 s-max section which is 10 years old x1 xtreme section and x3 of what I think is slx sections but could be anything

Pt a slx section 1 in an extreme pole 18 earlier this year no problems ?
