Yep soil pipes are nice but in a small van where the pole has to go diagonal to fit they aren’t a lot of use. Because you have to slid the pole a long way, diagonally they would hit the rear doors. Unless you opened them 180 degrees every time. Pain in the bum. My way is split seconds hand on the pole. Soon as you undo the clipped end you can move it sideways before lifting it of the bulkhead end. Simple fast efficient.

Pole Storage in Van

Had a look in the back of the van today and there are a couple of points you could attactch things to. On a post a little while back @spruce and @Pjj recommended some metal clip things into the side and then a bar across. I can’t find the post now to show you what I mean but you could potentially do something like @steve garwood has or just drop Munsen rings and pipe from them. It would potentially give you room to store loads of poles if you’re still on that flat tank!

Found it, they’re called Joist hangers, pop either a metal or wooden bar across the back of the van and do as you please with it!

I've ordered some 100mm munsen rings with a length of 80mm M10 threaded bar @P4dstar. These should (?) hang from the cross member. The problem I'm going to have to solve then is that there will be just one point of contact from the roof, so as we know the poles won't be fixed so to speak. I'm going to try and configure something that will attach to the bulkhead so the end of the poles sit in it. I don't want to drill holes in the bulkhead like @steve garwood has. I'm thinking of a block of wood attached with no more nails or something similar and hollowing a U shape out of the wood so the end of the pole will sit in that. I've gone off the idea of using a telescopic pole attached to the walls of the van as I noticed that the walls slope, plus there's a run of wires hidden behind a length of plastic on one side of the van. I hoped to get this all done before I start back to work but I just haven't been @rsed doing anything.

The other reason I don’t use tubes is that you can only load/unload the poles from the back doors.
I have dual side sliding doors, so can open either door and grab the pole through the side doors as both my reels face sides, piece of doddle ?

What are the screws you have used? I assume they’re self tapping and not bolted from the other side?
Not self tappers mate M6 HT Sets (bolts). Took a stupid piece of trim off and used it’s threaded holes. There are plenty of bolts in my bulckhead.

I love these replies, they make me feel like my DIY skills are up there with the best ?
Univalves are good but I get much much more control with a tap. Cracked open for the scrub then full open for rinse. Can’t do that with univalve. Plus when I turn the tap off, it’s off. Not pull on the hose then pull it again cause it didn’t work first tuck. Horses for courses I guess. Least we are in the same camp with some sort of flow control. It’s those who leave the water pouring out all the time and say they use 500 litres to clean a house who worry me.
Plus I don’t take my hand off my pole to control my water flow. Like you would with a univalve.

Funny you should mention that. I'm slowly assemblying a Peugeot Boxer (made in the Fiat/PSA factory in Italy) and the framework/bodywork in the back is full of purpose punched holes.
I was looking at them all the other day with the side plyling panels off and trying to figure out why they have so many.
I know that a base panel van uses the same body as the factory made people carrier so some of those holes will be for securing the headling. There are also a few seat belt mounting points in the side panels used in the people carrier. They also use the same wiring harnesses across the range so you could find additional unused wires in the back of the van that would be used in the people carrier. I have one for additional ceiling lights. There is also a plug with 2 wires at the back tucked away which I haven't found a source for as yet. My van also had a blank auxillary socket at the back with all the wiring. I fitted a socket to that and then eventually found that the relay to operate it was never fitted. I bought a special Fiat relay and fitted it. It works now.
One of the factory options for my van is a load lock system in the form of a fabricated metal channel running down the length of the van on both sides. So some of those holes would be to secure that option. But I still can't figure out the point of all the holes in the side panel at the top just below the roof line or all the holes in the interior roof support 'bars'.
The other option is a full steel factory fitted bulkhead. My van didn't have one so I found a used one on Ebay. All the holes for securing the factory fit bulkhead are already there. I just marked out the relevant ones and fitted nutserts. Now I have a full steel bulkhead.

I have a GrippaTank pole rack fitted to my expert when my tank was installed , works really nicely but pricey. It’s essentially some steel racking beams hanging from the roof so can be done DIY cheaper.
There are a couple of post recently where the posters have suggested how to do it DIY.

Another poster advised the JPL Direct sell Rapid Rail which is the same rail Grippatank supply in their kits. Rubber lined Munsen rings and threaded rod will also be available from most good plumbing outlets.

Dispatch’s and Experts are different beasts though, most DIY solutions use threaded holes in the roof or beams. The expert etc only have a single beam in the middle of the roof and no threaded holes so a different approach is needed.
Rapid rails and bolts work though it’s just more costly and fiddly.
