Poles that don’t fit in the back of the van

WCF

Help Support WCF:

You could drill a 4" hole in the bulkhead near the middle or passenger seat end,  and use that to locate the butt of the pole,or buy a pole which is more compact closed.

In the astra my clx27 is too long so i stick it through the rear passenger headrest and the front passenger headrest - the end is just a few cm short of the windscreen but does the job - doesn't move sideways and it doesn't move forwards as the brush head holds it from he back seat. I've also had it through the middle headrest at the back and had the front on a bungee cord between both front seats. The 2nd option isn't as great but if i need to carry a passenger it does the job..

I put my trad pole, harris pole, 30ft and my 48ft with the base into the rear footwell, running into the boot over the top of the seat, slacken the angle adaptor so the brush drops and fits perfectly

I used a length of gutter downpipe secured to my roof bars. Cut a slot so the clamps slot in, if I was going on fast roads I’d bungee cord around it. The lockable pipe tubes would be better if you think someone may nick it, a slot in the side to rest the gooseneck so you can still lock the end would do the trick.

next time your in the market for a new van....buy one that can fit  your poles in without cutting into your bulkhead......

some window cleaners its an afterthought AFTER they ve purchased a van not before which is silly.....?

OR....buy some new poles with a short closed length.....

I disagree. I’ve cut a small hole in the bulkhead for my larger pole. The van itself has the load capacity of what I need but a smaller frootprint which allows easy parking and great economy. A larger van just to fit the larger pole doesn’t make sense when I weigh it all up.

I’ve never seen the issue of drilling through the bulkhead? My old van I had no choice as even an SLX22 wouldn’t fit without it going through into the front cab. I’ve done the same in my vivaro as my 45ft pole is too long to just go in the back - an 80mm hole in the exact place through to the front van is no drama.

each to their own but drilling through your bulkhead is hardly ideal is it?much better to keep your cab and your wfp equipment completely separate IMO....

your 45 ft pole must have one hell of a closed length if it wont fit in the back of a vivaro!?my 47 footer fits in my L2 connect just fine(xtreme 47)

I think with the vast array of poles on the market now you should be able to get something that will fit in most vans unless you are looking at something 70 feet high the avarage 18-45 will fit in most vans without a problem
