Hi anyone use professional  looking quote forms for jobs if so anyone any templates willing to share etc. Not sure if my software does them cheers

Hi Paul, I use a 6x4 inch lined notepad. The ones with the coiled wire spine, for my copy as it's easy to remove the sheet for my records. I tried using printed sheets but I found this method quicker, easier and cheaper.

This is how I lay them out in shorthand, for speed.

Q, sc & reg. name and address

Gmt - fr - - L-- ~B-- ~-R

-------£30--£25--£35-£30=£120

Sw~£55 -£30- £40-£15=£140

Cons: 3way, 12 panel, poly, 6ft crest, dwarf wall. £75

Total if all done £335

Tap? Y

Est 3.5 hrs if all done

Reg 6w £25 est 14 mins

Pending, likely.

Translates to: Quote, spring clean and regular. Customers details. Front, left, back, right side of house.

Gmt =Gutter empty

Sw =soapwash

Conservatory details

Is there an outside tap?

How long would I expect the job to take?

6 weekly maintenance wash price £25

Pending, likely=they are going to think about it but I think they'll want me to do it. That's my copy.

I then write on the back of one of our business cards for the customer to keep:

Empty all gutters £120

Soapwash all windows whites and doors on house £140

Soapwash conservatory £75

Total if all done £335

Reg wìndow clean 6 weekly including conservatory windows and doors £25

I tell the customer, they can have all of it, some of it, or none of it. That they don't need to rush a decision and that I'll hold the price for six months.

This looks way more complicated than it is, especially on my small phone screen. Can I suggest that you write a sample quote on a small notepad and see how simple it is in reality? Hope it's a help to you. Now we're used to this method my son and I can take a walk-round and give the quote in a very few minutes.

On private houses it’s done verbally unless they need a written quote , on commercial each job gets a bespoke quote for  the specific work that they have asked for on headed A4 paper posted to them

Similar to Davy G i use a4 paper, have a standard template i created myself, customers full name address telephone number date etc etc company details, then i list all works requested with prices, i dont bother totaling it up they can do that themselves depending on what they want/are happy to pay for. Two identical copies they get one i keep the other in case they lose it. I get them to sign a copy before we proceed with work. This is for residential works as i dont have any commercial work.

All my quotes are emailed. Below is the quotation email I send. For the odd rare occasion I give a paper quotation I print off something that looks similar to my email:

I came up with a small A6 sized form that serves as a receipt and also quote form. Done it in word 2003, designed it with info on the back and it folds as a booklet over another identical copy (printed on A4 so i get 2 identical copies / booklets per page). With carbon paper between the folded pages it means i get a carbon copy of what i've written / quoted / receipt'd and i tear off the top copy for the customer and keep the under copy for myself.

Slightly fiddly sometimes but when i tried a premade invoice pad from the office outlet it was even more fiddly so mine seems to be dandy for ease of use. Plus being A6 in size means they're small and easy to use instead of a larger A5 pad (which i stupidly bought 5 of from the office outlet closing down sale)
