So I wanted to do an update on my resin use...

Like I said I had just set it up. I had a 8 litre di a friend gave me which never got the TDs below 50 so I think there was a problem with it, and a reconditioned 19 litre di from the excellent seller on eBay.

Both had new resin in and I had about 2 litres left over from the 25 litre bag.

I have filtered approx 2500 - 3000 litres and haven't made any effort to do this slowly, just straight from the garden hose, though I have never had it on full blast, and now the small Di is at 250 and the big one is at 4.

I think this is a little disappointing because it was all new resin. I would have expected a slower rise from 50 to 250, in the end it made that leap over about 3 days. And it's a lot less than was being said on here previously, changing an 11 litre di every 5000 - 6000 litres of water, that makes about 15000 litres to a bag full of resin. Obviously I have to got the benefits of the slow rise in tds on a properly working 19 litre vessel but it's still going to work out substantially less water and therefore more money

So I bought another 19 litre di and have just connected them up after the pump. I have to say I like this set up, will try and get some pictures tomorrow. I can fill the tank in just a few minutes and it seems to increase the flow rate passing water through di vessel first. I will keep an eye how many litres I get before changing resin and post again in a few weeks

Cheers Sam

I don't think it sounds like there was a fault with your 8 litre vessel. With such high ppm tap water running through a small vessel at speed, I don't think you would get it down to zero on its own.

Now you're running two 19 litres after the pump though, you'll notice an incredible improvement. For a one man resin only setup, definitely seems the right way to go.

Now im set up with two pumps and two reels, sadly I've had to go with tap to resin to tank. Already noticing my resin usage going up drastically, but hey ho that's the price of running two lines!
