Rusty pre-filter

Changed the hose between my pump and reel earlier today as had a leak. Now I notice that the water between the tank and pre-filter for the pump is rusty coloured. I think some rust from the connectors may have gone down the hose pipe causing contamination. Ran the water for a while but it's not clearing... any ideas please?

Clean the strainer and turn it the other way round ie so any bits can fall to the bottom of it.
