Shurflow pump are they the best

Is the above the best pumps, where is the best place to buy. I see some when you google say genuine shurflow, does that indicate some are fakes? 

 
How would you know a fake? Mine was bought about 8 months ago, the problem I’m having is when the tank is full it dribbles out even on number 6 on the controller, then it quickens up after a few minutes, it’s very up and down. The controller is analogue model. There doesn’t seem to be much pressure. It’s a shurflow 100psi pump.

This is a question for @spruce Mine started making funny noises but it was repaired, not told it was a fake but the previous one lasted 6 years.

The last time this question was asked @doug atkinsonsuggested the owner supply a serial number and he would check it. He also mentioned that he got a pump in and you could see that the manufacturing quality of the pump just wasn't there. The components just didn't fit together right.

The trouble for us is that the Chinese could well be making the pump for Shurflo in America anyway. (I have a petrol lawn mower with a 4hp Briggs and Stratton motor on it made in the States. I bought the lawn mower in South Africa in 1983 and apart from regular oil changes, the only things its had are 2 spark plugs and a new airfilter element and its still going strong. We purchased a lawn mower for son and daughter in law as we were sick of the lawn mower disappearing down the road. We bought it as it had a Briggs and Stratton engine on it. Honestly, when I compare the 2 engines, the lastest B&S engine made in China is a real disappointment. Time will tell how long it will last. I also see that the Eberspacher Airtronic diesel heater I have in my van is available on Ebay called a Planar and looks identical to the unit I have at 1/3 the price.)

I would only buy a Shurflo pump from Daqua atm. At one time I would also buy one from Williamson Pumps as they were the main importers, but I understand that they aren't any longer. If I started to question the stock from either of these suppliers then I would probably opt for a different pump from Gardiners as I doubt that their rebadged pump is popular enough for the Chinese to copy yet.

I've noticed that the labeling has changed on some of the advertised Shurflo pumps being sold, so could this be a clue?

We have had excellent service from Shurflo. The one pump on the van is now 12 years old and still in daily use and the other is 11 years old. One of them did become a little noisey a few years ago and re-tightening the 6 diaphragm housing screws sorted that out. The other cause could also be the mounting rubber feet. You may need to nip the mounting bolts up a bit.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is that you are referring to tbh. Both of our pumps dribble a little when the controllers are switched off. Our connectors at the van port aren't stop connectors. The one pump is worse than the other. Inside the pump head is a small non return valve which is a plate held onto a valve seat with a tiny hair spring. Its there to ensure the plate allows water to be drawn into the pump easily on the suction stroke but stops the water being pushed back into the tank on the power stroke. (The power stoke is what causes the pressure in the delivery pipe to the brush head.) The reason why it dribbles is that the tension on this hair spring isn't enough to stop the water 'leaking' past the plate with gravity. The dribble is more with a full tank than when the tank is almost empty.

We have Hozelok tap connectors as van ports. We stop the dribbling by pushing on Hozelok hose connectors filled with silicone adhesive.

If the problem is when the pump is running then it might be a good idea to remove the controller and see if running the pump directly from the battery makes any difference. My gut feel says that its a battery charge problem rather than a pump problem so I would then check the pump using the van's starter battery.

Thank you for your replies. My mate looks after my van, I will let him read what you have written, then he can check. It's not my battery, it is on a split charger, but I charge it manually every other day. Unless it's a connection that is not right, onto the battery.
