For all those people who use immersion heaters:
I have just found this Smart Immersion Heater controller It basically replaces the thermostat in an immersion heater and allows you to set timers via a mobile phone. It appears to be a standard replacement for thermostats that are 27cm long (not sure if that includes 2Kw but I will try and find out). So basically you isolate the immersion heater from mains disconnect 2 wires on existing thermostat and replace with the smart one. Then power up and it creates it's own wifi network (and you can connect it to you house wifi if in range) so you use app to set up timers and temps. It also has frost prevention built in so as long as you have a float switch to shut off the immersion if tank not full then it should stop tank freezing as long as it's plugged in.
Looks like it's about £108 so not bad for a smart thermostat system.
