Good evening

Thanks in advance. What solutions do you use to clean solar panels please? The solar panels that are dirty and full of bird poo.

Also do you use a harder scrub pad for these ?

Thanks you

So just had a customer ask us about cleaning their newly installed solar panels. They said the information given to them by the company was that they can only be cleaned with a microfibre cloth as they have a “special” coating.
Turned the work down as want to get in hassle with claims of scratching or ruining the panels.
Anyone else heard of this?

We just use hot water no chemicals. But I don’t think solar panels have a coating unless this is something new , have cleaner 10s of thousands of them on commercial solar farms in the past now only do domestic and a few small set ups on barn roofs never seen or hurd of a coating ime still on the mailing list for firms we did them for and nothing has been said about coatings on there either . Most commercial farms are now cleaned using stiff brushes on a tractor system that certainly isn’t a soft clean , but obviously be careful as you don’t want ti be accused of damaging panels but from first hand experience I would say it’s virtually impossible to damage them with any window cleaning brush .

We don't offer this service of cleaning solar panels unless they are on the roof of a bungalow @Gerry Scrimshaw

If I did offer that service, then I would upgrade my insurance to cover items worked on. I would also have to invest in a scaffolding tower as most solar in our area is on house roofs.

One of the local now retired window cleaners had cleaning of solar panel sign written on the back doors of his van with a price "from £45."
He said he only got one job when I spoke to him about it

In all the time I've been cleaning windows, we have only had 6 enquiries for solar panel cleaning in 20 years of wfp. The last enquiry from a regular customer was over a year ago and I told him that I didn't offer that service.

I think they just make this stuff up, why would anyone go to the expense of erecting scaffolding etc and climb on a roof to clean solar panels with a microfibre cloth :ROFLMAO:
