Hi, have just bought a bigger van, an 8 year old Movano, would like to insulate if as much as possible.
Anyone ever insulated their van roof with spray foam?
Would like to insulate the floor too with 25mm Kingspan or equivalent if possible. Would you fit the tank on top of that or would it be safer to fit the tank then put the insulation boards around it?
Thinking of ordering an insulated tank.
Cheers!

I have seen people who convert vans to motorhomes have the interior spray foamed. One potential danger is the heat generated by the chemical reaction can distort the panels!!! As for kingspan on the floor you might need to spread the load a bit and maybe have an extra frame for the tank to be bolted through to stop the insulation being crushed! An insulated tank might be simpler bit then you might want to make insulated boxes for filters/reels/pumps etc.

As above expanding foam can distort the panels , your best bet is dodo rubber insulation it comes in several thickness and works well , kingspan in vans is very squekey as the vehicle flexes and can cause allergies if used in camper vans .

Cheers, didn’t realize about the heat distorting the panels, that closes that door then! Will look at other ideas ?

Cheers, will look into the rubber for roof insulation.
Will think about the the Kingspan, more worried about it getting crushed/not being a safe way to bolt the tank in rather than allergies
