Hi @spruce thanks for your reply /emoticons/smile.png I was looking at purchasing the pure freedom 2400gpd RO with HF4 membrane2400 GPD High Volume Reverse Osmosis System (40" Membrane) 40" HF4 - Reverse Osmosis - Water Purification

Ive tested my water pressure with a pressure gauge I got from Toolstation and it reads as Ive got a water pressure from my outside tap of 75psi so id like to think I wont require a booster pump?. The more and more I think about it I want to build my own static system, ive found this kit from Vyair your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Complete Commercial 4040 RO System. - Vyair (UK) Ltd

I presume you comment "a Machine Mart booster pump isn't going to do much for you tbh" is regarding the post I put about on I was looking at?

TIA Greener
Hi @Greener. If you have water pressure of 75psi then you don't need a booster pump.

Its always very difficult to comment on suppliers products you have no experience with. The most important aspect of your r/o is going to be your membrane. Its always been my belief that the membranes from the USA are the best. That's based on a conversation I had with RoMan 8 or 9 years ago where they 'warned' me off cheap Asian copies that were cheaper but weren't as efficient and didn't last as long. That may not be true today though.

There was a comment by one of the suppliers regarding an Asian membrane that it's spec was 97% efficient whereas the USA sourced membrane was rated at 98%.

With that in mind I don't seem to be able to find any info on the membrane they are selling with their system - AOS Commercial XLE-4040, ultra low pressure membrane. Filmtec make an XLE 4040 membrane which is USA sourced and a good membrane, but that doesn't mean that its the one Vyair sell. So you need to confirm the manufacturer of that membrane IMHO.

The jury is still out with regard to stainless steel housings. During the winter you have to make sure that the environment they are in is warm. Stainless steel reacts to the cold much quicker that 'plastic' and so will loose heat faster - which means it will freeze sooner.

Otherwise, it looks nicer.

I honestly don't belief we need 3 prefilters, so you are paying for one you don't need. Vyair sell water purification systems for all sorts of applications so 3 filters would probably be necessary.

All we need is a sediment filter and a long life carbon block prefilter. So you are buying an extra housing you don't need. Vyair sell 2 carbon block filters and one sediment filter as a kit. Both c/b filters do exactly the same job so will extend the life of a cheap filter. A 20" GAC filter only has a service life of 10000 liters, pure and waste combined.

They show a DI vessel in the picture, but this isn't included in the price.
