Roughly the same as your tap water tds.

Prefilters don't remove calcium and magnesium from the water, your r/o does that. If you don't have an r/o then resin does it.

Without the booster pump on mine runs at approx. 80ppm, with the booster pump on it drops to 8 or 9ppm. It starts at circa 360ppm

Just checked mine and it is 35 before di vessel starting about 265 from tap dose this sound ok why I ask is the resin has gone to 5 in about a week or two but was the last bit in the bag so may have gone off a bit. Thanks Mark

No, it isn't right.

A 4040 should remove between 97 and 98% of the tds from the water. The cutoff point was once suggested at around 94%. Yours is removing 87% which is way below spec. A new membrane will improve performance.

Ideally you should get pure water from the r/o at 8ppm or less. Your increasing tds from the r/o is causing an increase in resin usage.

My 4021 RO system leaves water at 15 PPM from 470 PPM , even without booster pump .

Your RO should have a pressure gauge on it. Some people have high enough water pressure, I live on top of a hill, not to need a booster pump.

What's your waste to pure ratio when the system is running? In other words, compare the amount of waste water to pure water.

When did you change your prefilters? The carbon block filter is very important as it removes chlorine from the water. Chlorine destroys membranes.

Our Fiberdyne 20" prefilter is good for 75,000 liters which is waste and pure water added together. Our r/o produces about 1 liter of waste to 1 liter of pure water. We use approx 13000 liters of pure a month, so a Fiberdyne prefilter lasts us about 3 months before its replaced.

Our 4040 membrane is just over 4 years old and still producing water at 97% efficiency. Water pressure is 50 psi, HF5 low pressure membrane with no booster pump. The system produces approx 2 liters of pure per minute.

Changed my pre filters about 3 months ago use about 250 300 litres a day 5 days a week. Will check waste to pure tomorrow. Thanks Mark

Sounds like PPM aside, your ro filters have a build up of scale and are not working to their maximum potential. Bite the bullet and invest in a softener, new ro filter.

Back of salt tablets for £5 every few weeks and you'll be laughing

Right just checked my pure to waste it takes about 29 seconds to get 1l of pure and about 26 seconds for 2l of waste and should the waste tds be higher than the tap .tap 260 waste 345 . Thanks Mark
