Well I dont know what your source is mate but the SLX does not require much maintenance at all. I have two at present that I have had for 2 years and they get stripped and cleaned aboout once every six months. That's all.CLX all the way, I know the SLX is stiffer, but i've read from a post somewhere else from someone who works at Gardiner that they need more care and the CLX is actually more durable. I guess if you can clean half a house more a day with the SLX then it will pay for itself eventually. But i'd go CLX easy to maintain, cheap to replace!

Another major benefit of the SLX over CLX (and i'm sure @Alex Gardiner wont care which you buy he's still making profit) Is that it's stiffer. This may not sound like a biggie but for those of us with old injuries it's huge.
I have chronic RSI in my left elbow to the point that when it 'twinges' it causes my hand to shoot open dropping whatever i'm holding. I'm not sure but I believe the flexing motion of the pole pushes energy back to handle and hence back down your arms. This is why I prefer the stiffer carbon fibre poles.
I suffered less when I switched from glass fibre to carbon and in the above video you may notice I refer to the Extreme pole as 'a work of art'. Why? Because since I have had it (around 3 months) my arm has not played up once.... not a single instanc for what used to be a regular (a few times) daily occurance.
With regards to your comment on 'cheaper to replace' I have never had to replace one of my poles in the 4 yeaes i've had carbon poles so seems a bit of a false economy to buy a cheap pole as it's cheaper to replace when the slightly more expensive pole has never needded replacing.
Also if I were to break it that's what my insurance is for..
Anyway horses for courses.
Welcome to the forum @Lewis Cleaning Co.
Hi Lewis Cleaning Co.It may well of been Alex Gardiner saying the CLX will technically last longer (maybe in lab conditions) I’ve never had a problem with my CLX either that’s why I haven’t upgraded to the SLX yet. By all means SLX is the better pole. But I feel the CLX is hitting that sweet spot for durability and price, especially as the newer ones tote a 65% carbon content so the flex won’t be all that bad unless your trying to reach 3rd floor maybe.
Totally understand that injuries play a part, I’m too young for that yet!
in terms of it being a false economy to buy the cheaper CLX that only becomes the case if the lifespan is shorter which in my experience isn’t the case yet.
Anyway each to to their own. They are both great poles!
You may be right there. If I ever find where I read that I’ll be sure to come back haha.Hi Lewis Cleaning Co.
The CLX poles will not last longer than the SLX poles and they do not need less maintenance either.
Both the CLX and SLX are robust and reliable poles, but the SLX pole will generally outlast and be more robust than the CLX due to its full carbon content. It also has the added benefit of being more rigid and lighter - both of which make a great difference to everyday working.
What you may have read from one of my posts is that the much more expensive Xtreme poles are not as long lasting as the SLX poles and need much greater care. Whilst the Xtreme range of poles are by far the easiest poles in our range to work with due to their lightweight, great weight balance and rigidity, they do need much greater care, cleaning and will still wear out more quickly than an SLX pole.
