As the title says....

Been asked to clean these skylights (one on the roof I am standing on when I took this photo)

Will I be able to clean this at all tackling it from above? I don't think I will be able to put any pressure on the pole working from this angle but I haven't tried before.

Can anyone tell me from their experience?

Yes, cumbersome but doable. Need a brush and pole you can angle the head on to 90°. And a swivel is needed for a good result unless you can tackle it directly from above. Needs a lot of rinsing.

Working safely is the top concern. Easy to over reach and fall, or trip over the hose. Make sure you tie the hose around something if anyone was to pull it from downstairs. I prefer to to these jobs with another person.

If you can reach them safely the weight of the pole and brush will give you plenty of scrubbing power. You shouldn't need to put extra pressure on the brush. Plenty agitation and a couple of good rinses, they should be fine.

I think a lot of people put far too much effort and pressure into scrubbing.

As others have said, you'll be able to clean them fine. Just use the brush's own natural pressure, rather than pressing it on to the window yourself.

Oh, and one other thing, tell the customer that you'll clean them as best as you can, don't make out that they'll be perfect every time!

When they build/design some of these places, they cant really expect certain of the windows to be cleaned imo. If they'd had cleaning of those skylights in mind at all, they would've been designed to open in from the inside and do it that way. Maybe they are?

I've got a meeting next month to price up 4 blocks of flats, 30 flats in each block, that have Juliet balconies on all windows, apart from the full balconies. The Juliet Balconies are triangular so they are alternately wide at the bottom and thin at the top then wide at the top then thin at the bottom and they are 5 floors high. Don't know if it's going to be possible to clean them or not

Yeh I dont reckon they've considered it. might be ok, or if not the residents can try their luck? I nearly fell out of a friends balcony at her flat, trying to trad the balcony glass, leaning over with squeegy and blade. my slx 22 wouldnt reach no way, and couldnt really park nearby anyway.

Sounds interesting and a right pain it would be good to see some pictures, I wouldn’t want to try and put a brush through railings at 5 floors , 3 is bad enough
