I've got 2 new vans I need sign writing. My current set up is good but I'm looking for something a little more. Seems the right time while I'm doing 2 vans. Open to the idea of doing a third van and a full rebrand if I get the right idea. Any ideas and suggestions welcome.

Speak to your local sign company tell them they type of thing you are after and get them to come up with some designs that’s what I did , then tweek it until you get what you are happy with . Also helps to look at others designs try googling window cleaning vans for some ideas maybe

Yeah I’ve done all of that over the years. They’re all aiming for the route of least resistance and just basically coming up with our logo on the side of the van. Simple contact details and that’s it. I’m looking for inspiration. I’ve Googled window cleaning vans and nothing jumps out at me. I may well just end up going the same route as before.

Sounds like you need a different sign company 😂

I’ve contacted a few over the years. I don’t think it’s them, I think it’s me and my lack of artistic input. When I once started describing something (logo massive, at an angle going up the van, window cleaning nice and big) they told me I was heading towards a wrap. Problem is then you’re potentially looking at a few grand. When you’ve got vehicles worth £12500 plus vat it’s difficult to justify that sort of cost.

I’ve also got the issue that a lot of them have asked me for purchase orders before they start on artwork. And I do mean a lot of them. Seems a bit crazy to me, do the work and if I like the look of your design and the price I’ll book it in. I imagine they’re just concerned they’ll end up doing work of design for someone else to reap the rewards of getting the fitting.

My vans cost around £400 each to do I think they look good 😂 and that’s with reflective first layer then a second layer is put on it but a bit smaller so the outline glows in the dark . Wraps are expensive I was quoted 4k for a 3500 kg van lwb high roof . I have used the same firm for 25 years so he knows he will get the jobs so no deposit is asked for , guess sign writing is a very personal thing what suites one won’t suite another .

Broaden your search type i(For example)Transit custom sign writing.I’ve seen some really smart looking builders and car valet vans that look great and then adapt them.

Sign writing on Window cleaning vans in general I think looks so outdated with either to much text or generic iconic style logos.

I went for a very basic striped back kind of look with gloss text on Matt vinyl inlays.
It’s nothing special but I Used to get quite a lot of compliments ,now it’s quite common. My sign writing company then started doing every window cleaning van that came to them like mine and it now no longer stands out.

I’ll see if I can upload a picture of it ., it sounds like you want quite drastic stand out style of design.

recently seen a local builders new tranny vans with a flag shaped panel top rear ,really eyecatching. What nthey reminded me of those superstox race cars where they have their numder on it,only these vans have their info. panels about 3ft x 2ft likely fixed either end of a roof bar

Not the greatest pic,but an idea
Oddly enough when you Google window cleaning van signage one of your vans comes up 😂 I like the simplicity of this. I really like the signage being in the insert part. I have something similar for my transporter. They’re magnetic and fit in the gaps. Really happy with with. At first glance they look like windows as it’s a white van.

I’m not sure about the stand out. I’ve been pointed to someone who shares the same accountant as me. He’s given me some ballpark figures that I’m happy with and I’ve gotta get him the logo over for him to mess about with. I’ve asked him to look at the logo blown up at a 45° angle on the sides of the van. The other option is what we currently have just refreshed. Final option being similar to yours I think. I like that and I’ve also been meaning to grab an 0800 number so it would be a good chance for a rebrand all in one.

What’s the reason for an 0800 number ?

I like the professionalism that is associated with it mate. Other windies round here seem to be knocking prices down to compete with each other. I’m about to put them up to cover the increase in wages and costs etc. essentially trying to keep my head up high, not get involved in some effed up price war and offering a different service instead of a cut price deal.

0800 numbers are also free to call which people used to like as it use to cost more to ring mobiles(not a problem now with free minutes etc)and non locational if I put my area code on the van and it’s in another town or county people may be less inclined to call if they think I’m not local.

Although times and trends change so people probably don’t think about it to much nowand just call any number and any one when they need a window cleaner.

My phones dead at the minute with new inquiries so little comes in lately I wonder if it’s been disconnected 😂

Sorry don’t understand what an 0800 number does to improve your business ? .
