Wfp open windows

WCF

Help Support WCF:

What do you guys do if windows are open but the home owner isn’t home to shut them ?
Turn the pole upside down whist erected in short sections and try to close them.

If it’s a top opener, still clean. If it’s a side opener and to stiff to close, I’ll clean it without rinsing, but leave the small opener above it.

Hope pjj and part timer are ok. This was posted 4 minutes ago!

Try shutting them if you can’t, clean theM anyway rinsing on the glass. Little top windows are more likely to let water in its fully open, side ones shouldn’t be a problem just adjust your position accordingly

Just clean them as normal, making sure to stay within the frames. Very simple. I personally won't use a pole that in my case cost the best part of £700 if my memory is correct to close windows (Extreme 22). I wouldn't use an SLX for that either. I rinse against the glass so almost never a problem. Using 100 degree fan jets means I get a full brush width of water contained and focused right where I want it rather than two streams of p..s squirting around the place?. Just watch what you're doing and see where the water is going to go. Like I say, easy.?

We try to push them up without risking snapping a pole section we also like @Davy G use extream 22 if they cannot be shut just clean the glass and open framework rinse on the glass , squeeze the hose  between pains and move on .

Sorry steve got distracted for a muinit then ????

A gentle push, if they don’t shut, I’ll do what I can.
As I would have texted the night before that I’m coming, it’s not my fault if I can’t do a perfect job.

It depends on the angle and height of the window. Where there’s no risk of getting water in I just clean carefully with it open. If it’s has to be closed then yes I use my pole to close it if it’s possible. If it’s too stiff or at an angle then it gets left. I tend to push them closed in the same direction the pole extends rather than from the side. Have done this for years and never broken a section. That said I use an slx 18 as my main pole but wouldn’t do it with my extreme 25

Yh same - on higher ones don't try and clean ones that don't shut from a side angle, end up firing water in the gap bc its hard ot control - you need to be square on with the glass for max control - ended up making that mistake luckily there was no electrical stuff inside

Been shutting  windows with my Extreme 18 for last 3 yrs - still going strong ?

£642 with the vat if payed £700 ask for a credit note ?
Nah, I was going from memory, I hadn't checked what I paid. It's still the best part of £700 though. Certainly well on the way to it. And definitely not a tool I'll be closing windows with. All customers are notified the day before so have plenty opportunity to close them. I don't have a problem with washing open windows anyway apart from very rarely when there's a reason not to because it would cause an issue. In which case I leave it. ?

I don't find open windows a problem at all. I use an Xtreme so have to be very careful. I'll try to shut it will a LITTLE bit of force but if it's stiff then I just do what I can. It's more a problem getting to the sill on the side openers.

if the window will shut with a gentle tap or push then ill close it...if its stiff ill clean it open....i never leave a window, even if i get a little bit of water tricking inside ill have a go.....?

I’m sorry this is bad advice. Is something gets damaged you will be held liable and I’m sure your insurance would try to riggle out of it by saying you acted irresponsibly.

Personally we clean open windows if we can see the water will still run off without going inside. So we may not clean the frames, but still the glass if needs be. If water will go inside, however, we just miss it. We text all customers the night before and when they sign up they get told if a window is open & we can’t clean it, we’re still going to charge full price.

It can be frustrating at this time of year, especially for newbies where every job counts, but missing out on a tenner for a job you can’t do is a lot better than having to pay after damaging someone’s iMac or carpet!
