I bought a collinswaterproducts 450gpd ro system last june, I only use about 2000lts a month.

When I set up the system my tds in was 330 and tds out was 10, it's crept up to 50 when i run at 1 good to 1 waste, if I tweak the flush valve to increase the waste flow i can get the tds down to 30.

Probably going to have to change the membranes after a years use.

Is it me are the membranes not lasting long enough?

Also the flush valve lever is so small it's difficult to judge how much you're altering the flow, pain in the neck!!!!

your doing well to get a year out of a collins ro mate, mine lasted around six months-i'd had enough by then and went the 40/40 route, that was maybe five years ago and still on the original membrane,40/40's or the 21's are cheaper to own in the longrun than those individual membranes which will go pop every june/july/august

My collins 450gpd is a year old 310 going in 009 outgoing I changed prefilters for the fourth time Sunday

They used to use Axeon membranes then changed. Don't know the specs of the membranes but the less money you spend on a membrane the less performance.

Blimey, I've got a 40/40 with 20" prefilters and a 40" membrane. Water goes in around 200 and comes out at 020. It was coming out around 008 last Autumn. Pressure is low though at 30psi, it's gone down from 40psi over the last month.

Don't agree with this. I've had my collins gpd for nearly 10 years and only changed my membranes 4 times and I'm Thames water, one of the worst in the country

I can get it down to 006 if I allow more waste but I don't mind 009 my pressure is also 65psi

Flush flow valve with a lever.. You want to try this method used on Brodex systems...

I need an alternative to this gadget.. any suggestions?

how often do you flush and for how long, also I get 2lts of good to 1lt of waste and have the waste fully closed, how about you/

Flush for about 15 minutes every couple of weeks. Mines 1 pure to 3 waste, not on a metre :balloondance:

Hello again lads and lasses...

Cured my problemssss more than one.

On a Brodex Tank there is a Float Valve inside the Tank which when full shuts off the incoming Tap water.

On the end of this Valve was a plastic /Nylon 1/2"- 3/4" adaptor where the incoming Tap water goes through .

This adaptor was Fractured allowing Tap water into the tank without going through the sediment filter then the Membrane filter.

Normaly the Tap water goes to the float valve when the valve is open water continues down to Sediment and Membrane filters.

From the membrane filter water is stored in the tank ready to go through the Di Resin filter then out to Pole. Top of the Membrane

housing sits an Elbow Flow Control device which controls the rate of waste water to pure water produced. The Flow Control device

the thread was locked down tight and the only moving parts when I bought the van was the dust cap and the locking ring on the threaded part.

I never realised the threaded part rotated inside the Flow Control device untill I bought a new one... That has took me a year almost to get this system up and running they way it should.... Lots of new parts and lots of dosh spent... I now have my tank water at 30ppm with the Resin polishing it down to 000 takes best part of 12 hours now to to fill up the tank 250 litres...
